Nearly 1 in 3 Americans may have an undiagnosed iron deficiency, a problem that can lead to fatigue, brain fog and difficulty concentrating, a new study suggests. An analysis of data from more than 8,000 adults in the U.S. revealed that 14% had low iron blood levels, a condition known as absolute iron deficiency, while 15% had the right iron levels but their bodies couldn’t use the essential mineral properly, known as functional iron deficiency, according to the report published Tuesday in JAMA Network Open. Doctors don’t typically screen adults for iron deficiency, which is why the condition has been overlooked in many people. There had been hints in other studies suggesting iron deficiency might be more widespread than doctors assume. The rates of iron deficiency between men and women are more similar after the age of menopause, experts said.

Missouri is set Tuesday to execute Marcellus Williams, a death row inmate whose case has spurred several efforts to save his life amid doubts about the evidence presented at his 2001 murder trial and the actions of a trial lawyer in the case. The attorneys are asking for the court to either find that those actions violated Williams’ rights or have a lower court address those issues. Morgan Stanley values Constellation's contract with Microsoft at $100 per megawatt hour, compared to the typical market price of about $50 per megawatt hour. Including grid charges, the prices rises to $130 per megawatt hour, according to the bank. Bloom, however, is positioned to capture a so-called "time-to-power" premium by directly supplying a major data center, according to Morgan Stanley. Morgan Stanley raised its price target to $22 from $20 in mid-August, 2024, and has rated Bloom Energy overweight since April 2023.

The attempted assassination charge is “pretty rare,” according to former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a CNN senior law enforcement analyst. But it has been used in other high-profile attempted assassination cases, such as that of a man charged with traveling to Brett Kavanaugh’s Maryland home with a gun, burglary tools and other equipment in an apparent attempt on the Supreme Court justice’s life. CNN —The surviving co-founder of the company that owned the doomed Titan submersible is scheduled to testify Monday as a US Coast Guard panel continues to investigate what led to the implosion that killed five people last year. The Marine Board of Investigation’s two-week hearing began September 16 and is expected to resume Monday with OceanGate co-founder Guillermo Sohnlein, who in January 2013 left the company, set to testify, the Coast Guard’s hearing schedule shows. In 2009, Sohnlein and CEO Stockton Rush launched the Washington state-based company that created the experimental 23,000-pound submersible. CNN —Four top operatives on Republican Mark Robinson’s campaign for North Carolina governor have stepped down, the campaign announced on Sunday, days after a CNN report uncovered inflammatory comments he made on a porn website. Robinson has a long history of making inflammatory statements but the newly unearthed message board posts go a step beyond. In an interview with CNN on Thursday, Robinson repeatedly denied that he made the comments on Nude Africa. Since the CNN report, some North Carolina Republicans have moved to pressure Robinson to drop out – though the state deadline for him to officially withdraw as a candidate has passed. Neither the Robinson campaign nor Nude Africa responded to inquiries from CNN.
