President Joe Biden has postponed his overseas trip this week due to Hurricane Milton, according to two sources familiar with the planning. Biden was scheduled to depart for Berlin on Thursday and then travel to Angola in Southern Africa, returning to the U.S. on Oct. 15. "Given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton, President Biden is postponing his upcoming trip to Germany and Angola in order to oversee preparations for and the response to Hurricane Milton, in addition to the ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene across the Southeast," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement. Like the first two human cases in California, this third case is a farmworker who was in contact with sick dairy cattle. The CDC’s Principal Deputy Director, Dr. Nirav Shah, said in a news briefing on Friday that these cases were not a surprise. The California Department of Food and Agriculture has been conducting bulk milk tank sampling in areas where herds test positive. The first infected herds in California were found in late August.

Washington CNN —President Joe Biden will no longer travel abroad this week as a major hurricane speeds toward Florida. The statement comes ahead of Biden’s expected remarks this morning on Hurricane Milton’s anticipated impact and ongoing recovery efforts for Helene. There have not yet been any discussions in earnest about when the postponed trip would be rescheduled, another White House official said. Berry Chantilly fans say they were victims of skimpflation, a member of the shrinkflation and inflation family. Whole Foods customers were quick to catch on, and by Friday, the company announced it had reversed its changes. “Based on feedback from our customers, we will reintroduce single slices of the Berry Chantilly Cake that are the same as the classic our customers know and love,” a Whole Foods spokesperson told CNN on Friday. CNN —Botanists have grown a long-lost tree species from a 1,000-year-old seed found in a cave in the Judean Desert in the 1980s. But the scientists conducting the new research weren’t able to identify the type of tree from the seed alone. However, the sample didn’t match any of the known Commiphora species in her database. The tree, which the study authors believe may have a biblical connection, is seen at 12 years old. Yet the tree, which is related to the myrrh tree that’s famed for its resin, never gave off any kind of scent.
