INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Momo the monkey’s taste of freedom is over. The primate spurred an hourslong search on Indianapolis' east side after he escaped Wednesday evening from his owner's property. Political Cartoons View All 1202 ImagesAfter his capture, Momo was taken into the care of Indianapolis’ Animal Care Services, which turned him over to staff at the Indianapolis Zoo for now, said Katie Trennepohl, deputy director of Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Trennepohl said Animal Care Services had "dealt with Momo one other time” when he had escaped in July. Last night, after Momo escaped again, she said his owner was issued a a citation because the monkey was “chasing and approaching in an unsafe fashion” while on the run in a residential area.

A government shutdown looming on the horizon could dampen sentiment to start October even as Wall Street wraps up what's been a challenging month and quarter. Many market participants expect that the financial markets and economy will broadly shake off concerns from a shutdown as they have in the past. "The market's probably going to set it aside until or unless it starts to have a larger impact on behaviors." Economic impact Historically, government shutdowns have been relatively short-lived, though they have been longer and more disruptive recently. Meanwhile, Jay Woods, chief global strategist at Freedom Capital Markets, expects the government shutdown is "all bark and no bite" when it comes to market reaction.

CNN —President Joe Biden and his Oval Office predecessor, Donald Trump, are about to wage the most direct showdown yet of their possible rematch as far-right House Republicans drive the nation to the brink of a government shutdown. Trump, seeking to sow dysfunction on Biden’s watch and advance his political goals as the GOP front-runner for 2024, is goading his loyalists to shut Washington down. Michigan – which Trump won in 2016 but Biden pulled back into the Democratic column in 2020 – will again be a vital general election state. "When there's a Fed meeting coming up in less than a week and nobody seems worried about it, maybe you want to brace yourself for a little turbulence," he said. On Thursday, Cramer will be looking at Olive Garden owner Darden 's earnings report, which may provide some clarity on whether consumers are spending money dining out. Earth is exceeding its “safe operating space for humanity” in six of nine key measurements of its health, and two of the remaining three are headed in the wrong direction, a new study said. Earth’s climate, biodiversity, land, freshwater, nutrient pollution and “novel” chemicals (human-made compounds like microplastics and nuclear waste) are all out of whack, a group of international scientists said in Wednesday’s journal Science Advances. “We are in very bad shape,” said study co-author Johan Rockstrom, director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany. Water went from barely safe to the out-of-bounds category because of worsening river run-off and better measurements and understanding of the problem, Rockstrom said. CEDAR KEY, Fla. — As cleanup begins in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia, the storm has served as a stark reminder that Florida's insurance industry remains in flux. But many of those homeowners face uncertainty amid the upheaval that has emerged in Florida's insurance industry in recent years. A thinning insurance market that is beset by more regular hurricanes has caused insurance policy costs to skyrocket. The state's insurance industry is preparing to lose four insurers since last year — Farmers Insurance, Bankers Insurance, Centauri Insurance and Lexington Insurance. Aggravating the problem, 82% of Floridians do not have flood insurance, which is typically operated by the National Flood Insurance Program, a federal program run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

REUTERS/Seth Wenig/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsAug 30 (Reuters) - The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday moved to extend mandatory overtime pay to 3.6 million salaried workers, going even further than an Obama-era rule that was struck down in court. The proposed rule would not affect overtime eligibility for workers who are paid hourly. Salaried workers who earn above the salary threshold may still be eligible for overtime pay if they do not primarily perform management-related duties. But a federal judge in Texas the following year said that ceiling was so high that it could sweep in some management workers who are exempt from overtime pay protections. Monday Monday proved to be a harbinger for the rest of the week, beginning with purchases of GE Healthcare (GEHC) and Stanley Black & Decker (SWK). GE Healthcare and Stanley Black & Decker appeared especially attractive, leading us to buy 100 shares and 150 shares, respectively. For GEHC, we wanted to take advantage of what we believe was an unwarranted decline in the medical technology company's stock price. Our purchase of Starbucks represents another buying-into-post-earnings-weakness situation, as we did with Microsoft and Stanley Black & Decker earlier in the week. That's why on Thursday we took our Nvidia price target to $600 per share from $450, implying roughly 27% upside.

Donald Trump's absence led to a night of barbs between the remaining GOP presidential hopefuls. The first presidential debate of this cycle was dominated by attacks on Vivek Ramaswamy. Despite getting attacked on all sides by his fellow candidates, Ramaswamy largely held his own on stage Wednesday, drawing large rounds of applause from the crowd throughout the night.
