CNN —The Miami Dolphins placed star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the reserve/injured list (IR) Tuesday following his latest concussion. Per NFL rules, Tagovailoa’s earliest return to competition would be Miami’s home game against the Arizona Cardinals on October 27. Tagovailoa was forced off the field during the Dolphins’ 31-10 loss against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday after diving for a first down and taking a hit from Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Third-year quarterback Skylar Thompson, who replaced Tagovailoa in the loss against the Bills, is expected to start versus the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The Dolphins announced Tuesday that the team had signed quarterback Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

The Winklevoss twins, Coinbase and Ripple didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Huge jump from 2020Delmore, who has been assembling reports on crypto donations in the 2024 election for blockchain analytics platform Breadcrumbs, told CNBC that industry spending is nearly double where it was in the mid-terms — more than $190 million in the 2024 election versus $98 million in the 2022 election. It's nearly 13 times spending in 2020 of $15 million — a figure based on a mix of data from FEC and OpenSecrets filings. Unlike the past two election cycles, which featured spending from the now-bankrupt crypto exchange FTX and founder Sam Bankman-Fried, this year's contributor list is more robust and diverse. "Most of the crypto donations in 2022 were from FTX and SBF and almost all of them went to Democrats or PACs that support Democrats," Delmore said.

Five years ago, while playing for the Copper Hills High School football team, Thompson met Marcel Malanga, the son of Christian Malanga. He proclaimed himself president of the United Congolese Party and railed against what he saw as vast government corruption in the DRC. On May 19, he assembled a ragtag band of a few dozen paramilitaries, leading them in an extraordinarily ambitious yet ultimately amateurish attempt to unseat Congolese president Felix Tshisekedi. Among them were Thompson, Malanga's son Marcel, and 36-year-old Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun, a convicted drug trafficker from Maryland. Videos taken in Kinshasa after the aborted coup showed Thompson being hit with the butt of a rifle by security forces.

New York City CNN —New US men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino said on Friday that his aim is nothing short of competing with – and beating – the best teams in the world. Finally, the 52-year-old Argentine was announced this past Tuesday, just minutes before the men’s national team labored to an uninspiring 1-1 draw in a friendly match against New Zealand in Cincinnati. Pochettino’s new charges have now failed to win their past four matches, a fact surely not lost on a head coach universally known as Poch, even if he wasn’t watching from inside the stadium. The recent hiring of U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes was a coup for the USWNT, as the Blues legend won no fewer than 16 trophies in her 12-year stint with the Chelsea’s women’s team. But does the new hire read anything into being unveiled on Friday 13th, a date many people are superstitious about?

Malanga’s 21-year-old son Marcel Malanga, who is a US citizen, and two other Americans were convicted in the the attack. WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert late Tuesday night clarified that she’s vehemently opposed to “hate or racism” after her response to a question about social media abuse drew criticism from players in her league. Instead of addressing the matter with a simple message against online hate, Engelbert toasted their rivalry and celebrated that there’s “no more apathy” in the WNBA. "During a recent media interview, I was asked about the dark side of social media and online conversation about WNBA rivalries and race," she wrote on the platform formally known as Twitter. Business Insider's Brent D. Griffiths has a rundown on everything you need to know heading into tonight . A newly released Times/Siena poll shows Trump holding just a one-point advantage over Harris among likely voters. For Trump, the focus will likely be the economy, which is a high priority for voters and also a sore spot for Harris. The latest Times poll showed Trump (55%) held a big advantage over Harris (42%) regarding who would be better equipped to handle the economy. Trump will also likely target Harris' biggest vulnerabilities , which may include trying to define her shifting views as disingenuous flip-flops, Brent writes.

You know, Hillary Clinton, who was, I think, kind of a terrible candidate, won the popular vote by two points. So I don’t think they gave her a very good hand to play. It doesn’t matter who you are, it matters that you’re right and you’re able to prove it or bet on it in some way. What wasn’t in the Harris model that should have been?” “Yeah, maybe you really can meme your way to victory. And there’s something in it that I don’t think she can explain how she does it, but it makes her a fascinating leader.

WASHINGTON — In the heat of the 2024 campaign season, more than 400 first-time voters from across the country gathered here in July to discuss political issues and the upcoming election — but with a focus on being polite rather than being polarized. The gathering was a so-called deliberative poll where the participants were randomly selected to produce a representative sample of young voters from the entire nation. There have been past “America in One Room” studies of the general electorate, but this was the first to specifically examine first-time young voters. And the portion of young voters who opposed drilling in the Artic wilderness increased, from 72% before to 76% afterward. 'I see that point': Young voters gain more respect for differing viewsThe polling results also showed these young voters gaining more respect for differing viewpoints, with the share of participants saying their opponents had good reasons for their positions growing from 64% before the event to 71% afterward.
