Israeli air strikes overnight and into Sunday have killed scores in Gaza, according to local health officials, as police in Israel arrested three suspects after flares were fired at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in the city of Caesarea. Basal said 60 people were killed after the IDF bombed houses in the city Sunday morning, and that "dozens are under the rubble." Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the incident crossed “all red lines” in a post on X early on Sunday. According to Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,400 people in the country. Hezbollah attacks have killed about 100 civilians and soldiers in northern Israel, the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and southern Lebanon over the last year, according to Israel.

CNN —A South African court ordered police to end a standoff with illegal miners and allow emergency workers to gain access to a shaft where hundreds are believed to be holed up. On Friday, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) said in a statement it was investigating the police for restricting the miners’ essential supplies. The South African Police Service welcomed the court order but said that the ruling does not prevent the detention of illegal miners who are in good health. Three illegal miners resurfaced by Saturday afternoon, according to the police. Also on Saturday, a South African national was arrested in Kanana at a house used as a smelter – a facility used to purify gold – they added.

Images of the nude photos were found on the men’s phones and on Alcala’s iCloud account, according to the indictments. While the indictments don’t specify how the men came under suspicion, the attorney for one of Alcala’s alleged victims has said she reported an incident to the FBI, and one of McKnight’s alleged victims has said she reported him to his supervisor. Seven of the counts specify he took photographs of nude images he found on the victims’ phones, which were found on McKnight’s cell phone. In two of the incidents, McKnight took the alleged victims’ phones after arresting them, the indictment says. One of the former state trooper’s alleged victims described her experience as “really violating” in an interview with KFVS.

A 44-year-old Florida woman accused of using her mother’s identity to apply for hurricane aid told a Bradenton city employee that she looked so much younger because of botox, the police department said Saturday. When the Torres arrived to pick up the check Thursday a city employee challenged her on her appearance compared to the age in the application. “Her explanation of ‘botox treatments’ failed to convince the employee,” police said in a statement. Bradenton is a city of around 55,000 north of Sarasota, on the state's western coast. That area was affected by powerful Hurricane Helene as it passed by in September, and in October Hurricane Milton made landfall in Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota.

BEIJING — A former student went on a stabbing rampage at a vocational college in eastern China on Saturday, killing eight people and wounding 17 others, police said, adding it appeared the suspect was angry over not getting his graduation certificate and failing an exam. The knife attack took place at the Wuxi Vocational College of Arts and Technology in Yixing, part of Wuxi city in the eastern province of Jiangsu. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and confessed to his actions, police added. “According to preliminary investigations, the suspect, surname Xu — male, 21 years old, a 2024 graduate of the college — attacked others after failing an exam and not receiving his graduation certificate, as well as being dissatisfied with his internship compensation,” a statement by the Yixing Public Security Bureau said. Sean Antone, 19, Benjamin Brandenburg, 18, and Logan Clark, 19, were taken into custody a little over a week after the Salisbury Police Department announced the arrests of 12 Salisbury University students in the Oct. 15 assault. Brandenburg was arrested by Salisbury police on Wednesday, and Clark turned himself in to Salisbury police on Thursday. A convicted identity thief who admitted to posing as a nurse in Virginia nearly a decade ago is accused of impersonating nurses in at least two hospitals in Southern California this year, authorities said. Porter, who does not have a nursing license, was charged with identity theft, false impersonation and grand theft, the department said. Prior to her arrest in that case, the department said, Porter was in custody over similar allegations linked to a hospital in nearby Santa Clarita, California. During her first five shifts at the hospital, she was under the supervision of a training nurse, the facility said. The Dallas-area influencer who had her spider monkey taken from her Saturday after a drunk driving crash is under investigation after the monkey was determined to be malnourished, officials said Friday. Brandi Botello's spider monkey, named Jorgie Boy, was taken from her following the crash in which Dallas police arrested the driver on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She told the station she was drunk and asleep in the passenger seat while holding Jorgie Boy when the crash happened. Jorgie Boy is the size of a 1-year-old monkey even though he will turn 3 in February. A Southwest Airlines plane was struck by gunfire Friday night while on the tarmac at Dallas Love Field Airport, a Southwest spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider. In a statement posted on X, Dallas Love Field Airport said Dallas police had responded to what it called a "security incident." One runway was briefly closed but has since reopened, the airport said, adding that there was "minimal impact on airport operations."

Kenneth Kimes Sr. pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, but Sante Kimes went to prison in 1985. When he or other people called for Kenneth Sr., Sante Kimes would say he was traveling, in the shower or had laryngitis, he said.

President-elect Donald Trump's tax proposals could cost trillions of dollars. In addition to eliminating taxes on certain income, Trump also floated making interest paid on car loans fully tax deductible; getting rid of the controversial cap on state and local tax deductions; ending the double taxation on Americans who live abroad; exempting police officers, firefighters, veterans and active-duty military from federal income tax; and even exploring jettisoning the federal income tax itself. Though his campaign didn’t release details on the proposal, Trump indicated that he would eliminate both federal income taxes and payroll taxes, which fund Social Security and Medicare. CNN —Eight people were killed and 17 others injured in a stabbing attack on a college campus in the eastern Chinese city of Yixing on Saturday, police say. The attack is the latest mass casualty incident to hit China. Last Monday, 35 people were killed after a car plowed into pedestrians who were exercising in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai, injuring over 40 people. CNN —Dallas police are investigating after a Southwest Airlines flight was struck by a bullet as it was preparing to depart from Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas Friday evening, authorities said. The bullet apparently struck the right side of the plane just under the flight deck as the plane was taxiing for takeoff from Dallas to Indianapolis just before 10 p.m., according to Southwest Airlines. The Boeing 737-800 plane sustained damage after the bullet struck “near the cockpit,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It also comes about two years after a woman allegedly fired several gunshots into the air at Dallas Love Field Airport, sparking chaos as travelers fled. Dallas Love Field Airport is located about 6 miles northwest of downtown Dallas and primarily serves Southwest Airlines, its website states.
