MH17 was a passenger flight shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, killing all 298 passengers and crew. At the time, the area was the scene of fighting between pro-Russian separatist and Ukrainian forces, the precursor of this year's conflict. Moscow denies any involvement or responsibility for MH17's downing and in 2014 it also denied any presence in Ukraine. They were charged with shooting down an airplane and with murder in a trial held under Dutch law. Judges will begin reading the verdict at 1:30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) at the high-security court next to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

In the ongoing ruling, the court had earlier said the plane was shot down by a Russian-made missile. Hong Kong CNN Business —The founder of Mamee Monster, the iconic Southeast Asian noodle snack brand, has died, the company confirmed Tuesday. Mamee-Double Decker Group, a Malaysian food manufacturer, told CNN Business that Pang Chin Hin died on Saturday at the age of 92. “Without [him] many of our childhoods would be very different,” CEO Pierre Pang Hee Ta, Pang’s grandson, told CNN Business in a statement. Mamee is best known for its colorful packets of crunchy, dry instant noodles, which are typically sold with savory powdered flavoring. The company started off making traditional instant noodles, with packs of vermicelli sold under a brand called Lucky.

LNG prices recently have cooled with Europe's gas storage levels rising to over 90% of target capacity and a slow start to winter. In Asia, however, a declaration of force majeure on gas supplies by Malaysian state-energy company Petronas (PETR.KL) has LNG customers in Japan scrambling for alternative cargoes. A total of 88 tankers carrying 6.27 million tonnes of LNG departed in October from U.S. ports, mostly heading to Europe, the data showed. LNG shipments from U.S. ports fell slightly to 6.27 million tonnes in October, with more cargoes going to Asia, where customers of Malaysian liquefied gas scramble to source alternative supplies. The shutdown of the second-largest U.S. LNG export plant has hit many customers, including Japan's biggest LNG buyer, JERA, which last week said it will book a $751-million loss mostly due to higher purchase costs.

SINGAPORE, Oct 19 (Reuters) - JPMorgan has appointed Sophie Qian as the head of its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team for Southeast Asia, according to a memo seen by Reuters and confirmed by the U.S. bank. The Southeast Asia ECM team will report to Qian with immediate effect, the memo said. The banker joined JPMorgan's U.S. ECM team last year, where she focused on U.S./Asia cross border deals and SPACs. She will report to Peihao Huang and Sunil Dhupelia, JPMorgan's co-heads of ECM for Asia exJapan. Earlier this year, Novan Amirudin, who used to head JPMorgan's Southeast Asia ECM team and was also its Malaysia investment banking chief, resigned to become the co-CEO of Malaysian bank CIMB's group wholesale banking business.
