Although gas prices are down and the rate of inflation has cooled sharply, consumers are still hurting from years of price hikes. After Russia invaded Ukraine, oil prices skyrocketed due to fears of massive supply disruptions. Drivers rolling up to gas stations in some battleground states are enjoying significant price drops, including Nevada (79 cents cheaper than a year ago), Arizona (78 cents cheaper), Pennsylvania (36 cents cheaper) and Wisconsin (32 cents cheaper). But for now the markets appear to be bracing for muted prices, a situation that should keep a lid on gas prices.

Republican state officials have launched an emergency appeal in Virginia, while Trump has attempted to play up the ruling for political gain. A Republican lawsuit led to a settlement with Detroit election officials that affirmed that there would be at least one GOP poll watcher in each precinct. Vice President Kamala Harris is planning to put manufacturing at the center of her closing message against former President Donald Trump in the battleground state of Michigan on Monday. CNBC's October All-America Economic Survey found 46% of respondents nationally said Trump would be better for the economy in their community versus 38% who said the same of Harris. In battleground states specifically, the poll found that Trump maintained a comparable eight-point edge, also outside the margin of error of 4.0 percentage points. The Michigan tour is part of the Harris campaign's weeklong barnstorming of the battleground states. On Sunday, the Vice President was in Pennsylvania and she is scheduled to visit North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada on Wednesday and Thursday.

A lawsuit by the Philadelphia DA would stop Elon Musk's $1M-a-day voter giveaway as early as Friday. Also on Monday, America PAC announced the tenth million-dollar winner. The DOJ did send a letter to America PAC warning that the giveaway might be illegal, a development first reported by 24sight News. America PAC did not announce a winner on Wednesday after the warning letter became public but has resumed announcements. Just hours after Krasner's lawsuit became public, America PAC crowned its latest winner, a man from Hastings, Michigan.

Consider an average of recent polling data on Hispanic voters: Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump by just 13 points. That’s well off an average of post-election and exit poll data from 2020, when Joe Biden carried Hispanic voters by 26 points. Trump lost Hispanic voters by 39 points to Hillary Clinton, according to an average of exit poll and post-election data. Trump has been doing particularly well among Hispanic men, as well as Hispanic voters without a college degree. CNN —McDonald’s will resume selling Quarter Pounders in all restaurants in the coming week after considering new data regarding an E. coli outbreak linked to its famed burgers, the company announced Sunday. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a food safety alert Tuesday warning dozens of people reported eating the Quarter Pounder sandwich at McDonald’s before becoming sick. On Sunday, the Colorado Department of Agriculture said McDonald’s beef patties used for the Quarter Pounder tested negative for E. coli. The 900 restaurants that received slivered onions from McDonald’s supplier Taylor Farms’ Colorado Springs facility will resume sales of Quarter Pounders without slivered onions, the release added. CNN has reached out to the FDA to see if it has ruled out beef patties as the source of the E. coli outbreak.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have laid out a broad array of ideas aimed at making life more affordable and strengthening the economy, which rank at the top of voters’ concerns. Both Trump and Harris have rolled out pricey provisions without specifying how they would cover the cost. Though his campaign hasn’t released details on the proposal, Trump has indicated that he would eliminate both federal income taxes and payroll taxes, which fund Social Security and Medicare. Around half of beneficiaries – mainly those with higher incomes – pay federal income tax on their Social Security payments. Harris’ plan would also accelerate the speed of Medicare’s drug price negotiations so that the costs of more medications come down faster.
