CNN —An independent Appeal Board has reduced Everton FC’s sanction for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) from 10 points to six. It comes after the Merseyside club successfully appealed a November decision by an independent commission to deduct points for breaching financial rules. The successful appeal moved Everton, which has failed to register a win in their last five matches, up to 15th in the Premier League table. That was a reference to the Premier League charging Everton with a second PSR breach along with Nottingham Forest in January. In response to the latest charge, the Liverpool-based club criticised “a clear deficiency in the Premier League’s rules.”

CNN —Former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson will be part of the Liverpool FC Legends management team for a charity soccer match, the club announced in a statement on Tuesday. Eriksson, who publicly revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis last month, will be on the sidelines alongside Liverpool greats Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge against an Ajax Legends team. The annual LFC Foundation charity match will be held at Anfield on March 23. Following the news of Eriksson’s diagnosis, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp invited the Swede to Anfield after the former England boss said he would never be able to fulfil his dream of managing Liverpool following his terminal cancer diagnosis. CNN —Since joining Liverpool in 2022, Darwin Núñez has continued to be an entertaining, yet polarizing presence in the English Premier League. This juxtaposition was on full display in Livepool’s league win against Chelsea on Wednesday, where Núñez missed a penalty, made a wonderful assist and then set an unwanted record. Two of those missed chances were brilliant efforts from the striker, but the other two were opportunities he really should have converted. Despite the missed chances, Núñez did pop up with a brilliant assist for Luis Díaz who made it 4-1 to the six-time European champions.
