An initial DNA test on remains believed to be those of Joseph Couch, the suspect in the Interstate 75 shootings, was inconclusive, but an autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, state officials said. The soft tissue DNA test was “inconclusive due to extreme decomposition of the body,” and a further DNA test with material extracted from bone will be completed, the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet said in a news release. The remains were found in deep brush by a highway exit in Laurel County, which is where London is and where the shootings occurred, state officials said. A chance finding of bones in a cave is revealing clues of a much older tragic mystery. The once-in-a-lifetime find, nicknamed Thorin after a character in “The Hobbit,” has puzzled researchers for nearly a decade. CNN —Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, never experienced a ruinous population collapse, according to an analysis of ancient DNA from 15 former inhabitants of the remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Settled by Polynesian seafarers 800 years ago, Rapa Nui, today part of Chile, has hundreds of monumental stone heads that echo of the past. But that theory remains contentious, and other archaeological evidence suggests that Rapa Nui was home to a small but sustainable society. Easter Island genomesTo investigate Rapa Nui’s history further, researchers sequenced the genomes of 15 former residents who lived on the island during the past 400 years. But the ancient genomes add to a growing body of evidence that the idea of a self-inflicted population collapse on Easter Island is a false narrative, said Matisoo-Smith, who wasn’t involved in the study.

Netflix is going to become a significant advertising player in the coming years, according to JPMorgan. He estimates that the company's advertising revenue, excluding subscriptions, will reach at least 10% of total revenue in 2027. Looking ahead, JPMorgan expects the company to reach critical scale across each ad market next year. To date, Netflix has about 278 million global subscribers, and its ad tier has generated more than 45% of all signups in ad markets. Netflix launched its ad-supported plan in November 2022 to increase revenue and subscriber count after losing subscribers for the first time in more than 10 years .
