CNN —Sharon Stone is opening up about her dating life – and 2024 could be a good year for it. But that may very well happen,” the Golden Globe-winning actress told The Times of London in an interview published Friday. “I went on the @bumble dating sight (sic) and they closed my account,” she wrote in a Twitter post. Don’t shut me out of the hive.”In 1984, Stone married producer Michael Greenburg, but the pair split three years later. Every year since 1993, the Italian coffee manufacturer has produced a photography calendar, featuring images from the likes of Helmut Newton, David La Chapelle and Annie Leibovitz. This year’s edition celebrates the African continent as the birthplace of coffee (widely considered to be Ethiopia). But the theme itself, for me, was so powerful,” said 33-year-old Kenyan photographer Thandiwe Muriu. Photo by Thandiwe Muriu / 2024 Lavazza CalendarFor 31-year-old South African photographer and filmmaker Aart Verrips, the Lavazza project, and its emphasis on Africa and African creatives, is a big step forward in terms of recognition. “I brought that [theme] into every kind of image [for the Lavazza calendar],” said Verrips.

expect retailers to start stocking more "green" meatballs and bean burgers in place of fake-meat products amid rising concerns about ultra-processed foods. Plant-based meats are generally regarded as healthier than meat products because they're typically lower in fat and higher in fiber. "We're not sure that the demand is going to be there for those products," Firth said. Firth added that he expected plant-based meat manufacturers to increasingly focus on having cleaner labels by reducing the number of ingredients. "So I think moving forward we'd like to see more plant-based options that don't even have to shout about being plant-based or vegan.

The Blue Zones meals were tasty and convenient but left me hungryThis is not enough lunch for me. One of the most exciting discoveries in Blue Zones research is that the ingredients linked to longevity aren't expensive , exotic, or hard to prepare, and they are satiating too. The Blue Zones Kitchen Minestrone Casserole is currently on sale at Whole Foods for $6.99, almost five times that price. Building flavor for healthy food you'll actually be excited to eat is also easier than you might think. All in all, I'm thrilled we have the option for Blue Zones cooking to-go, but am still hungry for more.

The people who've popularized the world's " Blue Zones" — longevity hotspots where healthy aging is second nature — have developed a line of convenience foods inspired by Blue Zone diets. Their new meals are called Blue Zones Kitchen bowls — they're minimally processed, healthy dinners that can be ready in the microwave in about 3 minutes. "Most of the time these frozen meals, they have a sauce on and the sauce is like crack. The Blue Zones frozen meals may be a stepping stone for people who want to eat more healthfully, but maybe can't commit the time to chopping and simmering longevity-boosting herbs and veggies at home. I've been following the Mediterranean diet for years, and I've learned a lot of simple recipes. I take a minimalist approach to my diet and often only use a few ingredients in my meals. I've discovered a love for orange, avocado, and shrimp saladI wasn't initially convinced that orange, mustard, and shrimp went together. I've concocted a Mediterranean version of a make-your-own pizzaIf you have an at-home dinner date coming up, make some puff-pastry pizza together. I've only recently discovered tofu, and I've been enjoying adding it to salads and grain bowls for a protein boost.

AdvertisementI don't miss red meat at allI used to eat a lot of red meat. That was one of the near-instantaneous benefits I noticed when I started following a Mediterranean diet. Fortunately, it's really easy to make budget-friendly swaps and still stick to a Mediterranean diet. There isn't just one Mediterranean dietI think one of the biggest misconceptions I had about the Mediterranean diet before I started following it was that it was pretty limited. Although a Mediterranean diet can be Greek, French, Spanish, and Italian, it's also Turkish, Lebanese, Israeli, and Moroccan.

"Matthew Perry's ketamine overdose should be a lesson in expanded use of the dangerous drug," declared The New York Post. There is one question, in particular, you should "never" ask an employer, says Bert Bean, CEO of the staffing firm Insight Global: "What's the work-life balance for this role?" With this question, he explains, "You risk sending the wrong message about your career aspirations to a future employer." Asking hiring managers about the company's work-life balance can create an impression that you aren't engaged, reliable or committed to the role. "Your future employer shouldn't dictate to you what your boundaries should be." There are other ways to determine a company's approach to work-life balance outside of the interview.

As a longevity researcher, I've spent the past 20 years studying the habits of people who live to 100 years old or longer, particularly the foods they eat. And in a tucked-away corner of Nicoya, Costa Rica, I may have found the world's healthiest breakfast. They stoke wood fires in clay ovens, put cauldrons of spicy beans to boil, and mix corn dough with wood ash. The beans cook slowly for about an hour to tender perfection and are then mixed with rice. Add water and stir until a soft dough forms (if the mixture won't form a soft ball of dough, add warm water in one tablespoon increments until it will).

The secret history of Japan’s best sweets
  + stars: | 2023-12-01 | by ( Lilit Marcus | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +5 min
Many of Japan’s present-day favorite wagashi – sweets – have their origins on Kyushu. Castella (kasutera in Japanese) also makes an appearance in another popular Japanese sweet, dorayaki. Here, the castella cake is thinner and made into a pancake with a layer of sweet red bean paste inside. Europe meets Japan, Japan meets EuropeAnother European sweet that got the Japanese treatment is macarons. For him, it’s a way of honoring Japan’s small producers, in addition to introducing these flavors to the hotel’s guests.

NAPERVILLE, Illinois, Nov 28 (Reuters) - It is rare that U.S. corn supplies build in a marketing year while soybean supplies slip, but that is exactly what is happening in 2023-24, keeping soybean prices relatively elevated versus corn. The U.S. Department of Agriculture pegs total U.S. corn supplies in 2023-24 to rise 10% on the year, while soybean inventory is seen shrinking 3%. U.S. corn versus soybean supply: Year-on-yearThe 2007-08 rise in corn and fall in soybean supplies was policy-driven, and the only other recent, directionally similar year was 2003-04, when the U.S. soybean crop fell victim to rare, widespread pest issues as well as dry weather. USDA’s long-term projections issued earlier this month suggest just that, pegging 2024 U.S. corn acres at 91 million and soybeans at 87 million versus 83.6 million in 2023. Interestingly, USDA in the couple of years leading up to 2007-08 had also overestimated U.S. soybean acres in March and undershot corn.

A vegan diet differs from a vegetarian diet in that it eliminates not only animal flesh but dairy, eggs or any other ingredient derived from animals. In each pair, one twin was assigned a vegan diet, while the other was assigned an omnivore diet. “I feel like a lot of people who do a vegan diet think ‘Oh great, soda is vegan. Cutting back on eating meat and animal byproducts can be done slowly, bit by bit. Harvard’s Hu agreed: “While this study showed a vegan diet may provide additional advantages compared to a healthy omnivorous diet, it does not mean that everyone should become a vegan or vegetarian.

Climate Action Against Disinformation found that, in every month since COP27, the hashtag #climatescam generated more retweets and likes than #climatecrisis and #climateemergency on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Researchers attributed much of #climatescam’s traction to a small group of influential accounts, which they said tended to be far more vocal about climate denial on X than on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Some of the sites pushing climate disinformation made money from ads — a revenue stream that researchers said was enabled by more than 150 advertising exchanges owned by some of the largest tech companies. The marketplaces, which largely use automated auctions to buy and sell online ads, placed ads on at least 15 websites known for hosting climate denial content, according to the report. Doing so flouted policies set up by many of the exchanges to block climate denial content and other disinformation from being monetized.

Dad fashion seems to show up when consumers are feeling wary — not the worst they've felt, but certainly not the best. These so-called "core cultures" arose on platforms like Tumblr, Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok, in which young fashion consumers are eager to chop up fashion trends into subcultures and become devotees.

Kraft’s newest Mac & Cheese is ditching cheese
  + stars: | 2023-11-29 | by ( Jordan Valinsky | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
New York CNN —Kraft’s new Mac & Cheese is ditching the cheese and going vegan. “Curiosity is a major factor in trying plant-based foods and beverages,” Sherry Frey, vice president of Total Wellness at NIQ, told CNN. The vegan cheese sauce is made with fava bean protein and coconut oil powder, creating a sauce that has a “similar taste, look and feel to dairy-based mac and cheese,” the company told CNN. Goodles, for example, is a Gal Gadot-backed startup that sells boxed pasta with more protein and fiber at a higher price that also has a plant-based mac and cheese in its portfolio. In particular, the Kraft brand recently rolled out a makeover of its Kraft Singles cheeses that emphasizes the cheese doesn’t have artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
