But the reality is that the crown prince has a grander ambition: to level up Saudi Arabia's economic growth. "But Saudi Arabia is piling into other sports too, because they want to achieve a lot in a short period of time." Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Wrestling Entertainment executives decided to name their new publicly traded company TKO to honor the companies' expertise in fighting, but they have broader aspirations than just owning combat sports. That includes eventually going to market together for international media rights and bringing together the company's production efforts and back offices, Shapiro said. After that, TKO plans to swing into acquisition mode to grow the company, he said. Endeavor also owns Professional Bull Riders and two tennis tournaments — the Mutua Madrid Open and the Miami Open. In the coming months, TKO executives will also negotiate new media deals for WWE "Raw" and "SmackDown" on traditional pay TV.

The sports tech sector had one of its best quarters ever in Q2, according to investment bank Drake Star. The large number of new M&A deals, coupled with an influx of capital and a rebounding market, are driving growth in sports tech, Drake Star principal Mohit Pareek told Insider. In Q2, the biggest deal — and one of the largest ever sports-tech deals — was the April acquisition of WWE by Endeavor, the parent company of the UFC. Drake Star found 199 private-funding deals closed in Q2, up from 176 deals in Q1. Overall, though, less money was raised with the Q2 deals totaling $1.6 billion, compared to $1.7 billion last quarter.

Elon Musk said on Monday that he was "going with WWE as my fighting style." That prompted Triple H to offer his advice and joke about his characteristic "X" celebration. Triple H, the former WWE star and current chief creative officer for the company, appeared to offer Elon Musk his help ahead of a potential bout with Mark Zuckerberg. "Say the word," replied Triple H. "I know a thing or two about making an X sign." But hopefully, Triple H is offering fighting tips instead of encouraging Musk to deploy the same gesture.

New York CNN —Federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and subpoenaed World Wrestling Entertainment executive chairman Vince McMahon last month as part of an investigation into claims of sexual misconduct, the company announced this week. Following his departure, the WWE disclosed multiple expenses that McMahon hadn’t reported, totaling $19.6 million. Many of the payments are related to the company’s investigation of his alleged sexual misconduct, and the company’s board last year formed a special committee to investigate. The Wall Street Journal in July 2022 reported McMahon paid tens of millions of dollars to four women to cover up “allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.” McMahon has denied the allegations. So far, he has repaid the WWE $17.4 million, the company reported Wednesday.
