Nicole Kidman has five Oscar nominations to her name, including one win. In an interview with the Radio Times Podcast this week, Kidman says her height made it challenging to break into acting. I had to talk my way through the door because they were measuring you before you went in. In fact, Kidman says she took the lessons she learned from those rejections and passed them on to her children. Performance coach Steve Magness previously told CNBC Make It that even a simple grammatical shift can boost your resilience.

With at least 40% of U.S. employees working remotely at least one day a week, chances are your work-from-home setup is in need of a little sprucing up. Ever since I got my first cell phone back in 2007, I've been charging my devices with a cable that plugged right into the charging port. Recently, however, I've been using the CATCH:3 from luxury charging brand Courant, and I might never go back. Europe's new Ariane 6 rocket to launch June 15-July 31, 2024

Christophe Ena/Pool via REUTERS/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsPARIS, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Europe's new Ariane 6 rocket will stage an inaugural flight between June 15 and July 31 in 2024, the European Space Agency said on Thursday. The keenly awaited window for the first test flight came after a test model of the new rocket passed a key long-firing engine test in French Guiana last week. The maiden flight will carry some smaller satellites, including two from NASA, but since it is still considered a test flight, it will not carry "a major payload", ESA added. The ESA will carry out a few additional tests before the launch to make sure the design is "fault tolerant". Aschbacher said last month he hoped to be able to announce a launch window for an inaugural flight to be held in 2024, depending on the results of the engine test.

McDonald's will roll out the Kerwin Frost Box, a collab with New York-based artist Kerwin Frost, on December 11. But the star of the limited-time collab are the McNugget Buddies, an assortment of anthropomorphic McNuggets that haven't been a part of McDonald's mascot rotation in decades. The McNugget Buddies were first introduced in a 1988 Happy Meal, according to McDonald's. They made appearances in McDonald's Canada comics in the early 1993, were available as Sports Buddies in the UK, Japan and Singapore in 1992 and were last seen in 1996 for McNugget Buddies Halloween. The six new McNugget Buddies are based on Frost's experiences growing up in New York City, including one that is designed to look like him.

PARIS, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Europe's Ariane 6 launcher has passed a key rehearsal in preparation for its first flight, the European Space Agency (ESA) said on Thursday - part of efforts to bring the delayed rocket to the launchpad in 2024. Ariane 6 is being developed by ArianeGroup, a joint venture between Airbus (AIR.PA) and Safran (SAF.PA), in order to better compete with U.S. private launch provider SpaceX. Russia blocked European use of its Soyuz rockets last year in response to Western sanctions over Ukraine. "We are back on track towards re-securing Europe's autonomous access to space," ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher said in a statement late on Thursday. Cooking the perfect turkey is hard enough on its own without worrying about stuffing, cranberry sauce, casseroles and mashed potatoes. By the time dessert rolls around, the thought of making pie dough, blending a pumpkin pie filling and baking it to perfection can feel like a bridge too far. But if you want to outsource dessert to a supermarket near you, you'll need to choose from countless options. CNBC Make It tried a quintet of pies from a variety of national and regional chains to determine the best store-bought option. Staffers were asked to sample pie from the following five chains and select their favorite.

Lewis Hamilton likes to keep busy. And it's not just his responsibilities on the racetrack that keep the Formula 1 superstar occupied day in and day out. In his early days in the cockpit, Hamilton was spread thin among his many responsibilities. CNN —Astronomers have spied an intriguing phenomenon in the distant universe — a galaxy that closely resembles the Milky Way — and it’s challenging key theories on how galaxies evolve. Like our home galaxy, the newly discovered ceers-2112 is a barred spiral galaxy, and it’s now the most distant of its kind ever observed. While massive spiral galaxies are common in the Milky Way’s cosmic neighborhood, that hasn’t always been the case. The bars take shape when stars within spiral galaxies rotate in an orderly fashion, as they do in the Milky Way. “The discovery of ceers-2112 paves the way for more bars to be discovered in the young universe,” de la Vega said.

Warren Buffett once famously said that the best thing you can do for yourself is read 500 pages a day. And while it may be difficult to set aside nearly a full work day's worth of hours to read, it recently got a little bit easier to consume information like Warren Buffett. That's because this week Spotify announced that it would be making a selection of more than 200,000 audiobooks free for its Premium subscribers. The books available under the new terms include a number that have been recommended by Buffett himself over the course of his legendary career. Here are five books recommended by Warren Buffett that can now be accessed for free on Spotify.

AdvertisementAdvertisementThe James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has spotted the most distant example of a galaxy in the universe that looks similar to the Milky Way. The galaxy, named ceers-2112, is more than 11.7 billion years old and is the earliest example of a barred spiral galaxy ever seen. For them, there is little doubt: this picture suggests this is a barred spiral galaxy. Scientists had thought you couldn't find a barred spiral galaxy before the universe was about 6.9 billion years old. The other 95% — about 27% of dark matter and 68% of dark energy — remain huge mysteries in physics.

Shake Shack this week announced that it will give out free chicken sandwiches if a player celebrates scoring a touchdown by doing the chicken dance. However, unlike other recent fast food giveaways, there's no language in the terms and conditions limiting you to one free Chicken Shack during the promotional period. To activate the deal, you can create your order via a kiosk at a Shake Shack location or using the restaurant's app. You'll need to add the chicken sandwich to your order before checkout in order for the deal to be applied. Shake Shack just last month introduced a hot chicken version of its classic sandwich, topped with hot peppers as well as a cherry pepper slaw.

REUTERS/Steve Nesius/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 7 (Reuters) - The European Union has struck a tentative deal to launch four Galileo navigation satellites using Falcon 9 rockets of U.S.-based SpaceX, European officials said on Tuesday, in the latest sign of pressure caused by a gap in European launch capacity. The agreement spans two launches pencilled in for April and July next year, carrying two satellites each, EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton told reporters in Seville, Spain, following EU ministerial talks on competitivity in space. Breton told a news conference the provisional contract with SpaceX was worth 180 million euros ($191.99 million). The 22-nation European Space Agency, which includes most EU states, last year turned to Elon Musk's SpaceX to launch its Euclid space telescope to survey evidence of dark matter and dark energy in the universe.
