CNN —Toys “R” Us is proving artificial intelligence could have a future in film. The retail toy brand premiered a short promo film at the 2024 Cannes Lions Festival in France this week that was created almost entirely by using OpenAI’s new text-to-video tool. Toys “R” Us said it believes it is the first brand to debut a film using the technology. A spokesperson for the creative agency told CNN that Toys “R” Us has not yet made a decision if the promo will become a TV ad. OpenAI has not yet announced an official release date for Sora but rumors indicate it could launch later this summer.

New York CNN —Millions of Miniverse toy sets made by toymaker MGA Entertainment have been recalled because they pose a serious risk of skin burn, eye and respiratory irritation when touched, inhaled or ingested, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday. The recall involves the “Make it Mini” sets which contain resins that, when liquid, can cause those injuries and irritations to young children and adults alike. The CPSC also found that the resins contain chemical compounds called “acrylates” in amounts that are prohibited in children’s products. The CPSC said MGA Entertainment has received 26 reports of incidents with the toy sets from children and adults, including reports of skin burns and irritation, and respiratory irritation, with one report that it triggered a case of asthma in the user. 21 million Miniverse toy sets are being recalled due to danger of skin burn, eye and respiratory irritation.

"Inside Out 2" has yet to open in Japan, which contributed nearly $33 million to the $850.5 million global total of the first film in 2015. Before "Inside Out 2," no Disney animated feature from Pixar or Walt Disney Animation had generated more than $480 million at the global box office since 2019. "'Inside Out 2's' performance is the culmination of many things," said Shawn Robbins, founder and owner of Box Office Theory. Remo Saraceni, a sculptor, toy inventor and technological fantasist best known for creating the Walking Piano that Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia danced on in a beloved scene of the hit 1988 movie “Big,” died on June 3 in Swarthmore, Pa. Now, five years later, as hundreds of architects, engineers and metalworkers race to finish rebuilding the cathedral’s roof coverings and electrical cabling by the end of the year, Mr. Gaudillat will not be sitting on the sidelines.
