Speculation swirled online this week that the show could leave Netflix for Amazon. It garnered 1.2 billion hours — behind just "Squid Game" and "Stranger Things" season four. One of the people said deals with MGM for "Wednesday" were made long before Amazon bought MGM in May for $8.5 billion. But Netflix licenses other original shows that are produced by other parties; based on everything we know, it would be surprising to see Netflix let "Wednesday" slip through its fingers. All of this is not even mentioning the fact that Netflix has never played by conventional TV standards and isn't always quick to renew a series just because it's popular.

Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, has complained for the past two years of Chinese import bans on various agricultural and aquatic goods, including pineapples and grouper fish, saying it is part of a Chinese pressure campaign. Speaking to reporters, Su said China was using administrative means to "interfere" in normal trade which is not in line with WTO norms. The government will do its best to communicate with relevant Chinese departments on the issue, he added. "If there is any non-compliance with the relevant WTO norms, we will also follow the relevant channels to file a complaint." It said it hoped that Taiwanese companies will provide the information that meets government requirements as soon as possible.

Netflix's "Wednesday" is already one of the streamer's biggest TV originals ever after two weeks. Its viewership is on pace to pass "Stranger Things" season four and is rivaling its top show, "Squid Game." "Wednesday" also had Netflix's biggest first week of viewership ever, beating "Stranger Things" season four. The show is chasing the Korean-language series "Squid Game" to be Netflix's biggest original show of all time, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said at an event in New York City on Tuesday. "This group is far more likely to be among highly engaged viewers because the series has strong overlap with other young-skewing Netflix shows," including "Stranger Things," Alexander wrote.
The controversy involving Twitter and Hunter Biden dates to October 2020, weeks before the presidential election between Joe Biden and then-President Donald Trump. SEOUL, South Korea — Award-winning “Squid Game” actor Oh Young-soo will stand trial on charges of indecent assault after a woman accused him of inappropriately touching her in 2017, a South Korean court said. The district court in Seongnam city said Thursday that prosecutors indicted the 78-year-old Emmy nominee last week over the allegations and that his trial will begin in February. South Korean cable channel JTBC said Oh denied wrongdoing when reached by a reporter, saying that he had only held the woman’s hands to “show her the way” as they walked around a lake. Oh became the first South Korean actor to win a Golden Globe in January after he was named the top supporting actor for his role in “Squid Game,” a brutal Netflix drama about a desperate group of adults competing in deadly children’s games for a chance to escape severe debt. Oh was also nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Oh Il-nam, a mysterious elderly contestant who joined the games after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

SEOUL, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Debate is brewing in South Korea over efforts to scrap a decades-old ban on North Korean media, as changing attitudes fuel renewed calls to review a national security law dating from the Cold War. South Korea's National Security Act blocks access to the North's government websites and media, barring efforts at "praising, inciting or propagating" its activities. In a statement to the court before the hearing, the national rights watchdog had called the clauses vague, disproportionate and damaging to fundamental rights. North Korean films, songs and other content are already widely available on YouTube and elsewhere, they added. "The North will likely produce television shows and publications specifically designed to sow more division in the South," said defector Kim Tae-san, a former North Korean ambassador to the Czech Republic.
