Dave Clark, Amazon 's former CEO of global consumer, who briefly helmed logistics company Flexport, is returning to the startup world. Prior to Flexport, Clark developed a storied reputation during his 23 years at Amazon as the architect of its mammoth logistics network. In 2020, Amazon tapped Clark to head its core retail business after longtime executive Jeff Wilke left the company. Clark joined Flexport to bring what he had built at Amazon to "small businesses and other businesses around the world." Harris "is taking pages out of the Republican playbook," Luntz said on CNBC's "Squawk Box." "If you just listen to these general statements, she actually sounds like a moderate Republican," Luntz said. The prior Times/Siena poll in mid-September found the candidates tied at 47%. And for the first time in the Times/Siena poll, more respondents identified Harris as the candidate representing change instead of Trump. Walmart's logistics business is pressuring Amazon's own, according to Wells Fargo analysts. But Amazon "is no longer the only scaled marketplace in North America," Wells Fargo analysts led by Ken Gawrelski wrote in a research note on Monday. They pointed to Walmart's announcement in August, for instance, that third-party sellers would be able to use Walmart's fulfillment network for orders placed outside of Walmart's website. The analysts cited the pressure from Walmart's fulfillment business as just one of the challenges facing Amazon's income. Amazon's stock slid more than 3% on Monday to about $180.50 after the Wells Fargo analysts published their note.

Harris’ plan would boost the debt by $3.5 trillion over the next decade, while Trump’s platform would cause it to spike by $7.5 trillion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget’s report, released Monday. It found that Harris’ measures could have no significant impact on the debt or could increase it by $8.1 trillion. And Trump’s proposals could balloon the debt by between $1.5 trillion and $15.2 trillion. These proposals would cost $2.3 trillion in total. But the committee estimates these tariffs would bring in between $2 trillion and $4.3 trillion over a decade — not enough to cover Trump’s agenda.

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Sunday did not commit to calling Congress back into session before the election after President Joe Biden pressed congressional leaders about potential funding shortfalls in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The president noted that the White House requested more funding for the program as Congress prepared a short-term funding bill that passed last month to avert a government shutdown. Pressed on whether he would call Congress back into session before the election, Johnson replied, "We'll be back in session immediately after the election." Johnson's comments come after Biden said in remarks at the White House last week he expects to ask Congress for a supplemental funding request for areas affected by Hurricane Helene. "The American people are disgusted by this, up with it, and so are Republicans in Congress," he said.
