The only other hospital that had still been serving patients in northern Gaza, Beit Hanoun Hospital, stopped operations because of the intense bombardment of the town, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. "If the hospital doesn't get fuel, this is going to be a death sentence against the patients in northern Gaza," said Atef al-Kahlout, the hospital's director.

Inspired by Morin's video, researchers at USAFacts, a not-for-profit group owned by current Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft Executive Steve Ballmer, compiled inspection data from 148,166 licensed childcare facilities in 41 states between June and September 2023 to discover that 14,683 licensed childcare facilities across the country are behind on receiving their state-mandated inspections. As for Minnesota, its state records reflect that 85% of its childcare facilities have received an inspection recently enough to comply with state law. Tennessee, for example, requires childcare facilities to be inspected four times a year, while California only requires it once every three years. On Monday, rocket-warning sirens sounded in several towns in southern Israel, the Israeli military said. Authorities in Gaza said at least 2,750 people had so far been killed by the Israeli strikes, a quarter of them children, and nearly 10,000 wounded. Nearly 1 million people in Gaza have fled their homes over the past week with hundreds of thousands starting out in the past 24 hours, according to the United Nations. Many people are seeking refuge at schools and shelters, said the U.N., which along with other humanitarian agencies has said Israel’s call for a massive evacuation from most of northern Gaza is deepening a humanitarian emergency. Gaza has been experiencing a blackout since Thursday that has impacted health, water and sanitation services.

Storms, floods, fires and other extreme weather events led to more than 43 million displacements involving children between 2016 and 2021, according to a United Nations report. But while catastrophes intensify, the world has yet to recognize climate migrants and find formal ways of protecting them. Nearly a third, or 43 million of the 134 million times that people were uprooted from their homes due to extreme weather from 2016-21 included children. Floods displaced children more than 19 million times in places like India and China. HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe has recorded 100 suspected deaths from cholera and more than 5,000 possible cases since late last month, prompting the government to impose restrictions to stop the spread of the disease, including limiting numbers at funerals and stopping some social gatherings in affected areas. The health ministry announced the death toll late Wednesday and said 30 of the deaths had been confirmed as from cholera through laboratory tests. Earlier this year, the federal government committed to ratcheting up efforts to root out child labor law violations. “There are currently [Wage and Hour Division] investigations open at Perdue and Tyson Foods,” a Department of Labor spokesperson told CNN. “We are conducting a comprehensive third-party audit of child labor prevention and protection procedures including a compliance audit of contractors,” she said. Jerusalem CNN —Two Palestinian men were killed in the early hours of Sunday during an incursion by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Nur Shams refugee camp near Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials said. He said it was the third Israeli raid on the camp this year, damaging electricity and water services. Videos obtained by CNN shared by residents of the camp showed military vehicles entering the camp, where at least one was hit by an IED.
