CNN —Rudy Giuliani is no longer entitled to bankruptcy protection, a judge decided Friday, making it possible for creditors to immediately pursue his assets within days. Judge Sean Lane of the federal bankruptcy court in New York made the decision partly because of Giuliani’s lack of transparency after he filed for bankruptcy more than six months ago. The worth of those other assets is unclear, as creditors accuse Giuliani of downplaying or not disclosing complete estimates of the value of what he owns. The creditors believe one World Series ring alone would sell for nearly $30,000, according to court filings in his bankruptcy case. Giuliani agreed to end his bankruptcy proceedings, after Freeman and Moss suggested that approach earlier this week.

New York CNN —New York University has settled a federal lawsuit with students over antisemitism on campus for a confidential amount, the university said in a statement Tuesday. The settlement brings to an end a lawsuit filed in November 2023 from three Jewish students over NYU’s alleged failure to enforce its anti-discrimination policies, claiming their civil rights were violated over the university’s handling of discrimination and harassment against Jewish students. The suit claimed there had been a “steadily increasing incidence of antisemitic attacks at NYU” over the past 10 years and said the university has failed to enforce its own policies to protect Jewish students. “NYU, by entering into this historic settlement, is to be commended for taking a leading position among American universities in combating antisemitism on campus. New York CNN —Bloomberg Philanthropies is gifting $1 billion to make medical school free for the majority of students at Johns Hopkins University, joining other high-profile donors who have contributed to tuition-free medical schools across the country. Johns Hopkins said Monday that for most medical school students, the gift will cover the full cost of attendance, including tuition and living expenses. In 2018, NYU’s School of Medicine became the first medical school in the country to offer free tuition to accepted students. An October survey from the Association of American Medical Colleges found that 70% of medical students who graduated in 2023 have taken on some level of education debt. Some people could find themselves wrangling with summer travel bills well after Labor Day. To that point, 36% of Americans said they plan to take on debt in order to travel this summer, according to a March survey from Bankrate. The payment methods for summer travel expenses ranged from personal loans (5%) and buy now, pay later services (8%) to borrowing from family and friends (6%). Additionally, 26% of summer travelers said they intend to use a credit card and pay over for the vacation over multiple billing cycles. "The reason that's worrisome is because the average credit card charges more than 20%, which is close to a record high," said Ted Rossman, a senior credit card industry analyst at Bankrate.

The collection featured couture made from muslin "toiles" as well as intricate embroidery and needlework in gold, silver and bronze.
