Several law firms adopted the Mansfield rule in 2017, which aims to increase diversity in leadership. It's effectively the NFL's two-decade-old Rooney rule: a requirement that nonwhite candidates be considered when teams hire for coaching and front-office jobs. Law firms followed professional football in 2017 with its version of the Rooney rule, called the Mansfield rule. At first, the Rooney rule seemed to catch on when teams started to hire more coaches of color and a dozen general managers of color when that position was added to the Rooney rule. "For the Rooney rule to work," he said, "there has to be a true commitment from the owners.

"The suspect also attempted to evict the victim from the residence and locked her out of the home." Brown is wanted for alleged battery and police have a court-ordered warrant for his arrest, officials said. If no one signs Brown, his career will end with 928 receptions, good for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.

As years go, it’s fair to say that 2022 has become something of an Annus Horribilis for Tom Brady. His Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost three straight matches, the first time that’s happened in Brady’s storied career since 2002. The Bucs’ inconsistency has seen the 45-year-old quarterback’s frustrations boil over, with his explosive outbursts caught on the sidelines in multiple games. After rumors of marital unrest between him and his wife, Gisele Bündchen Bündchen, the couple announced last week that they are divorcing after 13 years of marriage. CNN —Tom Brady is used to setting new records but he wouldn’t have wanted this one. The 45-year-old became the most sacked quarterback in NFL history during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 27-22 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Brady was sacked twice at the end of the first half to initially equal and then break the record previously held by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. In truth, it’s hardly surprising that Brady is the most sacked quarterback in NFL history since he’s been playing in the league for over two decades and it does little to dent his astonishing legacy in the sport. It marks a new low in a difficult season for both Brady and the Buccaneers.

When Tom Brady came out of retirement in March, his 23rd NFL season was meant to be a final celebration and an opportunity for the G.O.A.T. Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers slipped to 3-4 on the year with a catastrophic 21-3 loss to the lowly Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Brady talks to Nick Leverett of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the game against the Carolina Panthers. According to ESPN, this is the first time since 2002 that Brady has had a losing record after seven games of an NFL season. “Those guys who are going to step up are going to show up this week in practice.

Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY SportsSept 26 (Reuters) - The National Football League said on Monday it has decided to replace its annual Pro Bowl exhibition match between all-stars with a week-long skills competition and a flag football game starting next year in Las Vegas. The new event is being called "The Pro Bowl Games" and will replace the traditional tackle football game with competitions between the AFC and NFC culminating in a Feb. 5 game of flag football at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. While flag football looks similar to tackle football, with passing and receiving, there is little protective equipment needed with play stopping when a defender pulls a cloth flag from the waist of an opponent. Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and his Omaha Productions company will help to shape programming and promote content throughout the week and also be a key part of the coaching staff for the flag football game.

It’s been half a century since professional-football fans were treated to one of the wildest finishes in the sport’s history. Yet few fans fully understand the religious undertones behind what is now known as the “Immaculate Reception.”On Dec. 23, 1972, the Pittsburgh Steelers were trailing the Oakland Raiders 7-6 with 22 seconds left in their first-round playoff matchup. Barely avoiding a sack, he flung a desperation pass to John “Frenchy” Fuqua halfway down the field. Oakland safety Jack “The Assassin” Tatum arrived as the pass reached Mr. Fuqua. A local announcer dubbed it the “Immaculate Reception.”
