The global sports doping watchdog World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accepted the assessment without an appeal. Concern only deepened Tuesday, after WADA acknowledged a separate 2022 case in which two Chinese swimmers tested positive for “trace amounts of a prohibited substance metandienone,” a banned anabolic steroid. “I feel so wronged,” said Zhang, denying that Chinese swimmers engaged in doping. The 2022 case, reported by the Times earlier this week, involves a swimmer on the Chinese roster in Paris, according to the paper. Personally, I believe that seven doping tests in one day might have disrupted our Chinese swimming team,” Gao wrote on Weibo.

Rugby player Ilona Maher may now be an Olympic medalist and beloved social media star, but she's no stranger to heartbreak. Maher and the U.S. women's rugby sevens team won the bronze with a last-minute win against Australia on July 30. CNN —While most Olympic divers sitting poolside at Paris’ Aquatic Center are anxiously twiddling their thumbs, one athlete has been twiddling a pair of knitting needles. Tom Daley, the 30-year-old Team GB diver who won his fifth Olympic medal earlier this week, has unveiled his latest achievement: a handknitted Paris Games themed sweater. Daley has been photographed knitting during every stolen moment while in Paris for the Olympic Games — whether he is watching his teammates compete or resting between his own events. “I don’t know how to just do nothing,” Daley said during an interview with CNN in Paris on Thursday. “So I sketched it out, made tension gauges and did the measurements and the maths to be able to figure out how to make it… You know (knitting) can be quite technical at times.

In an email sent March 20, the performance analyst, whose name was redacted from FIFA’s report, contacted Priestman about preparing for Olympic opponents. FIFA’s decision concerned Canada Soccer’s actions at the Olympics only, leaving open room for additional punishment for any wider system of spying. Before Priestman’s suspension from FIFA, she was suspended through the Olympics and Canada Soccer said it was investigating both the men’s and women’s soccer programs widely. Canada Soccer told FIFA on Saturday that Priestman’s references to spying in the men’s program referenced a specific person.

Taliyah Brooks gingerly approached the athlete as he lay on the grass and asked her question in a voice just louder than a whisper. “Do you have a pin?” she began, squeezing her shoulders together in a nervous shrug and offering a slight smile. The athlete, who had been stretching, shot up immediately and flashed a huge grin. Pins are the currency of friendship at the Olympic Games, and for Mohammed Dwedar, who will run for the Palestinian team in the track and field competition, this intrusion was more than welcome. “I was almost nervous to come over,” Brooks, a Texan, said, “because I don’t know how y’all feel about the United States.”
