The Biden administration's sweeping student loan forgiveness plan was temporarily blocked again Thursday by a Missouri judge, just one day after a federal judge in Georgia said he would let a restraining order against the relief expire. St-Louis-based U.S. District Judge Matthew Schelp, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump, issued the latest preliminary injunction against Biden's relief plan. The latest order capped 24 hours during which federal student loan holders were subjected to judicial whiplash, as a lawsuit challenging Biden's aid package, brought by seven GOP-led states, bounced from Georgia to Missouri courts. The states bringing the suit — Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, North Dakota and Ohio — allege that the U.S. Department of Education's new debt cancellation effort is illegal. Hall directed the case to be transferred to Missouri, because the states claim that Biden's plan would most harm student loan servicer Mohela, or the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority.

Two years after an Alabama prisoner was spared when staff members struggled to execute him by lethal injection, officials plan to try again Thursday — using the rare method of nitrogen gas. Egg prices spiked by 28.1% in August from 12 months ago, easily the biggest increase out of any food item tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The main culprit for rising egg prices is a familiar one: bird flu. Where egg prices are rising the mostStill, the current BLS average of $3.20 per dozen eggs remains high. Zooming in to focus on just the past year, Datasembly found that egg prices have increased the most in Hawaii (+49%), Minnesota (+44%) and Alabama (+38%). When egg prices spiked to record highs in early 2023, Cal-Maine’s profit skyrocketed 718%.

The sender said Sanford, who lives in Springfield, Missouri, would only only be safe if he removed a negative online review. Months earlier, Sanford had left a scathing review for an e-commerce "automation" company called Ascend Ecom on the rating site Trustpilot. The FTC is seeking monetary relief for Ascend customers and to prevent Ascend from doing business permanently. The FTC has also pledged to go after companies that try to suppress negative reviews online as part of new rules issued this year targeting fake reviews. Formed in 2021, Ascend has done business under several entity names with operations registered in states including Texas, Wyoming and California.
