CNN —A critical witness in the original trial of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has announced she will testify in his upcoming retrial on criminal charges. After Weinstein’s conviction was overturned earlier this year, Mimi Haley, a former production assistant on The Weinstein Company’s “Project Runway,” said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through it all again. Haley alleged that Weinstein had pinned her down and forced her into a sex act in 2006 at his Manhattan apartment. Last week, he was indicted in Manhattan in connection to new sexual assault allegations, according to prosecutors. If he is cleared to attend the hearing, Weinstein is expected to be arraigned on the new indictment.

Two former high-ranking New York City Fire Department chiefs were indicted by federal prosecutors Monday on charges of pocketing bribes to expedite fire safety reviews. According to a source, Combs was arrested in a Manhattan hotel on Monday night and is currently being processed. “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Combs, told CNN. New York Police Commissioner Edward Caban resigned Thursday amid a federal investigation into the department's nightclub enforcement, according to sources familiar with the matter. Caban, the city’s first Latino police commissioner, took over the department in July 2023 after being tapped by Mayor Eric Adams, whose administration is the target of multiple federal investigations. Adams, speaking in an address later Thursday, announced that he was appointing Thomas Donlon as the interim police commissioner. Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul whose alleged sexual misconduct fueled the #MeToo movement, has been indicted on new charges by a New York City grand jury, Manhattan prosecutors announced during a court hearing Thursday. The new indictment is under seal, prosecutor Nicole Blumberg told Judge Curtis Farber, who has set a trial date for Nov. 12.
