CNN —The House voted on Wednesday to create a bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. A resolution to establish the task force was approved in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 416 to 0. The House task force will be made up of seven Republicans and six Democrats and will have subpoena authority, House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries announced this week. Congress has moved swiftly to investigate the security failures that led to the shooting on July 13. On Monday, Cheatle was grilled at length by the House Oversight Committee over security failures related to the assassination attempt.

The lawsuit involved “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” a mini-series that appeared in 2022 on the streaming service Fox Nation. The series imagined a prospective criminal trial of Mr. Biden that involved fictional charges, and it integrated actual images of Mr. Biden in the nude and engaged in sex acts that had been discovered on a laptop he abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware. “The Trial of Hunter Biden” was removed from Fox Nation in April after lawyers for Mr. Biden contacted the network demanding that it be taken down.

Investigators have focused on Crooks’ online activity in the months and days before the attack. My drugs of choice are social media and online car shopping. While certainly not as instantly gratifying as social media, these tasks gave me a sense of accomplishment when I finished. I've stopped scrolling on Instagram when I wake up, and I no longer feel compelled to check social media incessantly. Whenever I'm working on something now, I resist the urge to watch YouTube or scroll through social media. I still use social media, though I typically schedule content ahead of time and log out after posting.
