The win makes Kim the state’s first Asian American senator. In the state’s second-most-populous county, Middlesex, for example, eligible Asian American voters make up almost 38% of the electorate. He is now set to be the first Korean American U.S. senator and has said his win would be a chance to listen to Asian American voters, who have often felt excluded from American politics. However, not everyone has been receptive to an Asian American like him representing the state. As he looks to start his first term as a senator, Kim said he hopes Asian Americans will take the leap into public service.

"While the investing landscape remains favorable in the U.S., international markets are very exposed to tariff policy, " said Yung-Yu Ma, chief investment officer at BMO Wealth Management. These moves reflect the divergence between U.S. and international markets as investors around the globe take in America's election results. CVS Health on Wednesday reported mixed third-quarter results as higher medical costs squeezed its bottom line. The earnings report is CEO David Joyner's first at the helm of the troubled retail drugstore chain. CVS will provide commentary on what it expects "directionally" during its earnings call, the spokesperson said. "Establishing credibility and earning the trust of our investors is one of my top priorities as the new leader of CVS Health," Joyner said in a statement. Novo Nordisk on Wednesday reported third quarter earnings broadly in line with expectations and narrowed its 2024 full-year growth guidance. The Danish pharmaceutical giant said that its net profit in the third quarter hit 27.3 billion Danish kroner ($3.92 billion), above an LSEG aggregate estimate of 26.95 billion Danish kroner. EBIT — earnings before tax and income — came to 33.8 billion Danish kroner, also just above the LSEG forecast of 33.51 billion Danish kroner. The guidance reflected the company's expectations for sales growth in North America and internationally, which is largely driven by volume growth of treatments based on Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), Novo Nordisk said. Novo Nordisk added that it was investing in capacity both internally and externally to increase supply in the short- and long-term.

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea, the South Korean military said, as the country continued its weapons demonstrations hours before the U.S. presidential election. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles flew about 250 miles but did not specify how many were fired. The launches came days after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a flight test of the country’s newest intercontinental ballistic missile designed to reach the U.S. mainland. South Korea’s military intelligence agency said last week that North Korea has also most likely completed preparations for its seventh nuclear test. Experts say North Korea has yet to acquire some critical technologies to build a functioning ICBM, such as ensuring that the warhead survives the harsh conditions of atmospheric re-entry.
