LONDON (Reuters) - London police said on Friday that a man suspected of injuring several people last week by throwing a corrosive chemical on them is now presumed to have drowned in the River Thames. The case has drawn political attention in Britain because Ezedi had been granted asylum after a sexual assault conviction. Metropolitan Police Commander Jon Savell told reporters authorities now presume, based on CCTV footage, that Ezedi went into the River Thames from a bridge in west London. "It is now our main working theory that Ezedi has actually gone into the Thames from Chelsea Bridge. All of our work thus far has not seen him come off the bridge," Savell said.

When Jon Stewart left "The Daily Show" in 2015, he had a modest but meaningful audience on cable TV. When he comes back next month, he'll find that in his absence, the show's audience has gotten much, much smaller. "The Daily Show's" overall audience has shrunk by 75% — from 2.2 million viewers a night to 570,000. And the age of the audience has skyrocketed because younger viewers are barely watching at all. Back when Stewart helmed “The Daily Show,” he was needling much more establishment figures, such as conservative news personality Bill O’Reilly or Republican President George W. Bush. Stewart’s talent has always been using humor to disarm dishonest politicians and expose the absurdities of their arguments in a highly entertaining way. NEW YORK (AP) — Comedian Jon Stewart is rewinding the clock, returning to “The Daily Show” as a weekly host and executive producing through the 2024 U.S. elections cycle. Comedy Central on Wednesday said Stewart will host the topical TV show, the perch he ruled for 16 years starting in 1999, every Monday starting Feb. 12. Two former correspondents in particular got massive boosts — Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert. '”The show's abrupt end was reportedly triggered due to clashes between Stewart and Apple over its coverage of stories around China and artificial intelligence. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions about who will host “The Daily Show” after the November election.

And after Trump won that election, many — including myself — believed that if only Stewart had not abdicated his late-night show in August 2015, Trump might well have been defeated. On a serious note, I don’t actually believe my 2016 article had anything to do with Stewart returning. And if history is any guide, Stewart will get under Trump’s pathetically thin skin, surely causing him to lash out on social media. Just one example came shortly before Trump announced his 2016 run, when Stewart discussed the other GOP presidential candidates. For a comedian, having a person like Trump respond angrily on social media to your jokes is better than a standing ovation.

CNN —Jon Stewart is heading back to “The Daily Show.”The comedian, who during his 16-year run as host of the Comedy Central program established it as an entertainment and cultural force, will return to host the show each week on Mondays starting February 12, Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios announced Wednesday. After exiting “The Daily Show” in 2015, Stewart signed a deal with Apple to host a show for the technology company’s nascent streaming service. Convincing Stewart to return to “The Daily Show” is a major coup for Comedy Central. While Trevor Noah received critical acclaim for hosting program after Stewart exited, it never quite had the same cultural impact it did under Stewart’s stewardship. Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, which is responsible for much of the streamer’s content library, said episodes with Stewart will be available on the platform the day after they air on Comedy Central.
