New York CNN —The Washington Post is trying to fix one of its biggest problems: an outdated homepage loathed by its own staff. Lewis is under pressure to recapture paying subscribers and return the Post to profitability, a goal he says he is making progress on. More urgently, at the Post, the homepage redesign is a sign that the new management regime is moving quickly to make significant changes. Lewis was appointed publisher and chief executive in January and didn’t mince words about the beleaguered state of the Post. While Lewis hasn’t entirely recovered, he has used his weekly memos to tout progress in rebuilding the Post’s subscriber rolls.

"I think people need to stop following trends, and they need to follow their heart more," India tells CNBC Make It. People of more typical means should avoid falling into the "celebritization of travel," India adds. Instead, India recommends choosing travel spots based on your own passions and what you want to learn more about. Think about what you're reading, watching, listening to and talking about to guide your travel decisions. Of the billionaires on the 2023 Forbes 400 list — the 400 richest people in the United States — 70% are basically self-made. In 1982, only 40% of the Forbes 400 had started their own business; the majority were simply scions of inherited wealth. The Forbes 400, however, is the extreme right tail of the curve. But you're not sniffing the Forbes 400 list, where the bidding starts at about $3 billion. I don't think VCs are deliberately picking founders they think are unreliable, although sometimes it seems like it.

The Guardian said Brown wrote to police after documents that were recently made public during civil court proceedings reportedly showed Lewis met with detectives in 2011. After he was hired by the Post, Lewis also tried to kill a story about his alleged involvement in the phone hacking scandal coverup, offering an NPR reporter an interview in exchange for squashing the forthcoming article. In May, Brown wrote to the Metropolitan Police and said he was told that the “Met’s special inquiry team” would look into it. The security threats were believed to be genuine and were not devised as part of an alleged ‘cover-up’ and there is no evidence to show that is the case,” the News UK spokesperson said. The allegations swirling around Lewis have roiled The Washington Post newsroom in recent months.

Earning the trust of your boss and the rest of your colleagues is a key foundation of building a successful career. That's why Jeff Bezos wrote that good leaders "earn trust" as part of Amazon's famous list of 16 leadership principles. Despite sounding relatively simple, it's a guideline that people often get "wrong," according to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, who replaced Bezos in that role in 2020. Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting wealthy individuals, making cybersecurity concierges a new must-have for the rich and their families, including executives. While companies are spending heavily on cybersecurity, personal and home devices are generally less protected, making them easier to crack. And despite their sizeable assets and growing threat of cyberattacks, family offices and wealthy families don't think of themselves as targets because hackings are rarely publicized. JPMorgan Private Bank offers cybersecurity help to its ultra-high net worth clients, along with lifestyle and travel services. Musk said in 2021 that Bezos "does take himself a bit too seriously" and that he's intentionally trying to provoke the former Amazon CEO. Musk has said Bezos should "spend more time at Blue Origin and less time in the hot tub." Musk added that while Bezos has a "reasonably good engineering aptitude," he doesn't seem to be spending a lot of "mental energy" getting into the details. Bezos tweeted in April 2022, the month Musk announced his plans to buy the social media site.

It was because I knew that working in Big Tech in Silicon Valley would change me into a different person and I'd never move back. It's been 11 years since then, and I think I've gotten happier with my life here now that I've worked at a few different jobs in Big Tech. But despite this, working in the US suits me better than working in India because of my individualistic mindset. Some people back home think very competitively — they've hinted that they think I'm just plain lucky, and if they had the opportunity, they'd do it too and much better. Even if I had all the resources to go back to India, it'd be different — I've grown apart from who I was.
