Americans will soon have to apply for a travel authorization to visit Europe — and failing to get one may ruin your next trip. The requirement, slated to start in 2024, currently applies to 30 European nations, including popular destinations like France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Travelers must apply for the travel authorization via the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, or ETIAS, prior to their trip. The online application carries a non-refundable fee of 7 euros a person — or $7.40 at prevailing exchange rates as of 12 noon ET on Thursday. "If you forget to do it, you won't board the plane," said Sofia Markovich, a travel advisor and founder of Sofia's Travel.

D3sign | Moment | Getty ImagesIf you have yet to purchase your fall and winter holiday travel and are hoping for a bargain airfare, time is running out. "Travelers are going to miss out on the opportunity to save when they wait too long," said Hayley Berg, lead economist at Hopper. In early October, 85% of Hopper app users who intended to book holiday travel had yet to do so, according to a survey of 500 people. In the last few days before Christmas, travelers could see price jumps of about $40 a day, Hopper anticipates. Fares will likely become increasingly competitive as travelers wait, "judging by the number of people traveling this year," said Elizabeth Ayoola, a personal finance writer at NerdWallet.

REUTERS/Andrew Kelly/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsCHICAGO, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) on Thursday reported stronger-than-expected quarterly profit on strong international travel, but trimmed its full-year outlook due to higher fuel costs. In an interview, he said the demand for Delta's products remain "high" as its customers are in "a very healthy condition." Delta now expects adjusted earnings of $6 to $6.25 per share this year, compared with $6 to $7 per share estimated in July. In the December quarter, the airline expects adjusted earnings in the range of $1.05 to $1.30 per share. Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines (SAVE.N) last month cut its profit outlook for the third quarter, citing "heightened promotional activity with steep discounting."

“Is It Good Enough to Fool My Gallerist?” David Salle, one of America’s most thoughtful painters, hoped an A.I. “We are sending the machine to art school,” Salle quipped, before expounding on the principles of light, shadow, depth and volume that good painting requires. Safe to say that nobody would mistake this image for a Salle painting. Salle’s style has changed over the years, which made capturing his essence a little more challenging for an algorithm. “Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. Insurance is an option for someLong-term care insurance, a very niche and complex market, has traditionally been an option for those able to buy policies, but it is far from the norm. “The population of seniors who buy long-term care insurance constitutes a segment of the population who are healthier and their longevity is likely different than the nation as a whole,” said Slome. “Our concern is that … it will get even more expensive for those who have had the modest resources to access long-term care insurance to be able to afford it,” she noted.

But don’t worry if you missed out — falling ticket prices could make fall the better time to fly. Airfare to top international destinations will drop in the fall as well, with prices to Europe down 31% from summer peaks — nearly $330 off ticket prices. Known as “shoulder season,” airfare typically drops in the fall as demand cools off after the busy summer months. The three major US international airlines — American, Delta and United — all saw a surge in international traffic in recent months and added additional service to meet demand. One factor that could cause ticket prices to increase, however, is rising fuel prices.

An American Airlines plane sits at the gate at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia on february 23, 2023American Airlines and Spirit Airlines on Wednesday joined other carriers in warning that higher costs will hit profits during the bustling summer quarter. The carrier halved its operating margin from a forecast earlier this summer to 4% to 5%. Spirit Airlines expects negative margins of as much as 15.5% in the three months ending Sept. 30, down from an earlier estimate of -5.5% to -7.5%. Airlines have lost the pricing power they commanded last summer when capacity was more constrained coming out of the pandemic, even though demand has been strong. Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines cut their third-quarter forecasts earlier this month.

But according to some industry experts, it’s not too early to start thinking about – and perhaps even booking – next year’s trip. But Keyes generally advises travelers not to necessarily hit that purchase button as soon as an airline opens up a flight for booking. “While it’s relatively common knowledge that last-minute fares are expensive, what’s far less known is that it’s also possible to book flights too early,” he says. From the hospitality industry perspective, advance booking can help hoteliers and other businesses adjust staffing, pricing and other factors to offer a better experience. While Cabutti of JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa acknowledges that “the early booking trend results in higher room rates,” it also enables businesses to better meet guests’ needs.

The orange juice was also a little pulpy and separated overnight—a common occurrence with both centrifugal juicers we tested. Others you should know aboutGreat multiuse juicerKuvings’s 4-in-1 masticating juicer comes with attachments to make smoothies, sorbets and nut milks, too. Masticating juicers use a rotating, screw-shaped augur to crush and press fresh produce to extract juice, while centrifugal juicers rely on a high-speed spinning metal blade to pulverize produce into a mesh filter. Masticating juicers are slower and cost more, but often have higher yields and are therefore less wasteful (which we found to be true in our testing). Centrifugal juicers are faster and more powerful, but create foamier juice that’s more likely to separate.

Here are three major reasons why Nvidia stock — which has amore than tripled so far in 2023 — has not finished its climb, justifying our $600-per-share price target. That's because Wall Street's earnings estimates have been revised much higher than Nvidia stock's more-than-3% post-earnings gain. A forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is calculated by dividing a company's stock price by its annual earnings-per-share (EPS). Using Thursday's midday price of roughly $486 per share, Nvidia stock trades at a 46.6 P/E, based on fiscal year 2024 estimates. That makes Nvidia's stock rally largely an earnings-driven story, not an ascent rooted in multiple expansion.

The firm raised its price target from $800 to $1,100 — a new high among Wall Street analysts — after the chipmaker beat second-quarter estimates and issue optimistic guidance. Rosenblatt had already hiked its price target heading into this week . The new price target implies more than 133% upside from Wednesday's close. Analyst Hans Mosemann described Nvidia's AI growth story as "the mother of all cycles." However, he forecasts constraints lifting in 2025, which would then raise the company's earnings per share power to a degree not reflected in the current valuation — and justifying the price target increase.
