But the next bottleneck in AI infrastructure — and one to invest in — is networking, according to tech analysts. An increase in investment in generative AI model training and inference will drive the AI networking spending growth of 34% over the next five years, said the firm. "Networking creates a performance bottleneck for generative AI model development," Morningstar's analysts said. "Well-positioned networking firms are a great second derivative play to invest in generative AI," they added. Stocks to play the trend Marvell Technology is Morningstar's top pick to play the generative AI networking trend, with the firm saying it is "attractively undervalued" currently and giving investors an "immediately opportunity" to tap rising generative AI networking investment.

Family offices are increasingly becoming their own private equity funds and investing in companies directly, according to a new survey. A majority (62%) of family offices made at least six direct investments last year, where they buy a stake in a private company or provide lending, according to the survey of family offices by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. An even larger number of family offices (71%), plan to make the same number or more direct investments in 2024. With the number of family offices tripling since 2019, and their total assets reaching an estimated $6 trillion or more, the flood of family office money into private companies could reshape private markets and the private equity industry. "Direct investment presents exciting opportunities for family offices to leverage their unique competencies," according to the report.

If Shein goes ahead with the listing, it is expected to try to raise more than £1 billion ($1.3 billion) from the sale of new shares, Sky News said. Bloomberg and the Financial Times have also reported that Shein is preparing a confidential filing for a London listing. Given its high profile and potential hefty valuation, an IPO by Shein would be a much-needed coup for the London Stock Exchange. In recent years, several companies have quit the exchange for other cities or chosen New York to go public. Jane Bernhard Columbia Business SchoolI have always been a very driven and creative person. I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater and continued my work in theater and television acting through my 20s. It took an immense toll on my personal life, which was completely pushed to the side as new opportunities came up. Conventional consulting doesn’t work for me, but I realized having my own consulting business does — so I started one. And if I find a job elsewhere down the line that aligns with my priorities, I may open that door.

Cyber insurance has become "a very fashionable product," Jain said at the annual meeting. Shokrai says categorizing how to attribute an event is the topic of much debate between insurance companies. After the first sign this week of potential profit taking in Nvidia (NVDA) since it's monster post-earning pop, now might be the time to hedge for further downside in the semiconductor space. Part of the slow spending approach is coming from the fact that senior executives are looking at gen AI the wrong way, said Sreekanth Menon, global leader, AI and machine learning at Genpact. The research showed that about half of the executives are framing gen AI solely as a productivity tool. "The infancy of gen AI, combined with a warped conception of its potential, has led to reluctant budgetary spending." The research from Genpact and HFS showed that business leaders are dedicating up to 10% of their IT budgets to gen AI projects. "To successfully move AI from a pilot stage to production, organizations need to pause and ensure their gen AI plan is aligned with specific business objectives, not just productivity," he said.
