The latter, he said, “broke through” during the Super Bowl, but “needs time and commitment” to grow. Democrat Aaron Rouse has won a special election for a state Senate seat in Virginia after his Republican opponent conceded in a race that was widely viewed as a proxy fight over abortion. Democrats will have a 22-18 majority in the state Senate, and Rouse is expected to provide a crucial vote against efforts by Gov. “Reproductive rights and freedom in Virginia have been hanging by a tenuous thread, especially in the wake of Roe being overturned, and the only thing standing in the way is a one-vote margin in the Virginia state Senate," Tarina Keene, the executive director of REPRO Rising Virginia, said Wednesday. During the campaign, Rouse said protecting access to abortion was a priority, vowing on his website that he would “not compromise” on abortion rights. In his State of the Commonwealth address Wednesday, Youngkin called on the General Assembly to pass a 15-week ban.
Rep. Colin Allred, an NFL alumnus, said he likely won't let his two sons play football, a "violent game." Allred, a former linebacker for the Titans, remarked that every Congressman should have played a team sport. "I don't think my boys – I have two sons – will be playing football," Allred said. "Every NFL player goes into every game praying to come through that game okay because we know it's a violent game. "Football is an incredibly dangerous, violent game.
Millions of football fans held their breath for close to 20 long minutes Monday night when Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin had a cardiac arrest after making a routine tackle. In the largest study conducted on the subject, 99% of former NFL players showed signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a devastating neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated head trauma. Another key study showed that 40% of retired NFL players have traumatic brain injury, with no correlation between the number of concussions and the severity of the injury. Seau’s death brought the issue of traumatic brain injury to a boiling point, and yet the league’s steps to address the issue appear to be little more than Band-Aids. He raised his hands in an unnatural movement that can be a sign of traumatic brain injury.
New York CNN —Skip Bayless spent a third straight day defending his controversial tweet about Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, this time during a tense exchange Wednesday with his Fox Sports talk show co-host Shannon Sharpe. His absence followed co-host Bayless’ widely-criticized tweet questioning whether the NFL should have ended the Bills’ game Monday against the Cincinnati Bengals after Hamlin collapsed on the field. During the incident Monday, Bayless tweeted: “no doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game - but how? “Skip tweeted something, and although I disagreed with the tweet, and hopefully Skip would take it down. “I’ll admit up front that I’m still shook up what happened last night to Damar Hamlin.
And suddenly it’s not.”Those were the salient words of “SportsCenter” host Scott Van Pelt Monday night after Damar Hamlin suddenly collapsed on the field during the high stakes Bills-Bengals game. Within moments, Van Pelt knew that the injury was very different than those normally sustained on the football field. And I was scared.”Later in the evening, after Joe Buck and Troy Aikman concluded their broadcast, hosting duties fell to Van Pelt. “I don’t work for a news network that covers traumatic events when they happen,” Van Pelt noted to me. “My personal preference was that I didn’t want to bring in a physician to speculate,” Van Pelt told me.
His co-host, former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, did not appear. During the incident, Bayless tweeted: “no doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game - but how? Former NFL player Jacob Hester told Bayless to “read the room, and have a heart.” Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson, former NFL player Darelle Revis and NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, among many others, also criticized Bayless. I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters,” Bayless tweeted. Bayless didn’t acknowledge the tweet at the beginning of Tuesday’s “Undisputed,” but appeared emotional about the incident.
Naturally, Elon Musk, the platonic ideal of the peculiar self-aggrandizing, self-parodying personality type that thrived during the Trump years and peaked during the pandemic, tops this list. By 2022, the media had pronounced him variously the next Warren Buffett, J.P. Morgan and Charles Koch. "bye bye @trussliz Congrats to lettuce", tweeted Putin's one-time stand-in Dmitry Medvedev, to which Elon Musk could not resist replying, "pretty good troll tbh." Elon Musk speaks at the 2020 Satellite Conference and Exhibition in March 2020. Elon MuskIt's weird to recall now that Elon Musk once seemed like, graded on the billionaire curve anyway, a net positive for a cursed American society.

County Sheriff’s Department said its West Hollywood Detective Bureau is handling the investigation. Sen. Rick Scott said Herschel Walker would "continue to be a leader" in the GOP "for years to come." Scott made the comments following Walker's runoff defeat to Sen. Raphael Warnock in Georgia. The Florida lawmaker was a visible presence at many Walker rallies throughout the campaign. But throughout the course of the campaign, Walker's campaign suffered from a series of scandals. After the runoff loss, Republicans are continuing to do a lot of soul-searching, as every statewide GOP candidate besides Walker was victorious at the ballot box in Georgia this year.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed GOP senators for Herschel Walker's runoff election loss. She also complained about how she wasn't invited to more of Walker's campaign events. During the interview, Greene complained to Bannon that she was only asked to speak at Walker's campaign events "a couple of times." "I was never asked by the Herschel Walker campaign to come to speak at any of his campaign events. They only asked me to come to maybe two or three in my own district," Greene said, adding, "which I find extremely insulting."
Herschel Walker's influencer son castigated his father's Senate campaign following his Tuesday loss. Christian Walker told Buzzfeed on Wednesday that his father ran a "dumb" campaign. "There is no quality as a candidate," Christian Walker said of his father. A spokesperson for his Senate campaign did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. We all already knew all of the scandals," Christian Walker said.
Sen. Raphael Warnock, the Democratic incumbent from Georgia, is projected to beat Republican challenger Herschel Walker in the state's runoff election to win a full six-year term in the Senate, according to NBC News. It also marks a major loss for former President Donald Trump, who had championed Walker and campaigned for him. The race went to a runoff after neither Warnock nor Walker won more than 50% of the vote in the Nov. 8 general election. Christian Walker pointed the finger at Trump after Walker's projected loss. With a 51-49 majority, Democrats will gain majorities on key Senate committees, which could make it easier for them to confirm nominees.
He was also featured in marketing material for the Livio Cares Foundation and was listed as a Livio Cares Partner. However, there is no evidence Livio Cares engaged in philanthropic activities. According to ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, Walker was listed as the director of VMP Nutrition Foundation in Fort Worth, Texas. According to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts website, the right to transact business in Texas for VMP Nutrition as well as VMP Nutrition Foundation is listed as "forfeited." In 2017, VMP Nutrition and its founder Rodriguez settled a lawsuit filed by Southside Bank for an alleged failure to repay a $2,795,534 lien.
Deion Sanders is reportedly leaving Jackson State after three years as head coach, ESPN says. College football fans shared mixed reactions to Sanders leaving SWAC, a conference made up of HBCU sports teams. Some criticized the former NFL star for using Jackson State as "a launching pad for his coaching career" while others congratulated him on the new Power 5 position. Similar concerns have been raised around Sanders' son and Jackson State's quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, potentially following his father to Colorado. Sanders is said to be announcing his alleged departure from Jackson State after Saturday's game.
Warnock has a 50%-46% lead over Walker in the Georgia Senate runoff, per a new SurveyUSA poll. Independents, a critical slice of the Georgia electorate, backed Warnock over Walker by 13 points. In the poll, Warnock enjoyed near-unanimous support (95%) among Democrats, while Walker earned the backing of 87% of Republicans; 11% of GOP respondents crossed party lines to support Warnock over Walker in the survey. Because no candidate received 50% of the vote at the time, a runoff election was triggered. A recent Emerson College Polling survey showed Warnock leading Walker 49%-47% among likely voters, while a new CNN poll had Warnock ahead of Walker 52%-48%, also among likely voters.
University of Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna was charged Wednesday with distributing child exploitation material, accused of sharing images of sexual abuse on the messaging platform Discord, authorities said. Kitna, 19, faces two counts of the crime and three counts of possession of child pornography, Gainesville police said in a statement. The school’s University Athletic Association said Kitna, a freshman, was suspended indefinitely from its football program. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted local authorities Wednesday that someone shared an image depicting child abuse on Discord, the police department said. A preliminary analysis of Kitna's devices found three other images depicting child sexual abuse, according to the police department.
