BofA called out the importance of Amazon's retail margin because it has generated more estimated outperformance than its cloud business Amazon Web Services (AWS). Add on same-day delivery, Jim asked, rhetorically, "Why would you go to the store on the way home when it's at your home." Fifty-one percent of respondents, a survey record, said they opted for Amazon's same-day delivery option. Based on these results, Evercore believes Prime same-day delivery is a "multiplier to purchase frequency and overall spend." Fundstrat's Tom Lee, who's been correctly nailing the stock market for the past few years, hinted that he was about to hike his year-end S & P 500 target even with the benchmark at record highs. Lee's 5,800 call would represent another 6% gain for the S & P 500 from current levels. Lee believes a strong force that could help lift the market is the $6 trillion in cash that's in money market funds. Lee would join a host of others on Wall Street who have recently raised their S & P 500 targets. On June 14, Goldman Sachs increased its price target on the S & P to 5,600.

Wall Street is turning more bullish

New York CNN —It’s tough being a Wall Street bear these days. The S&P 500 index has climbed nearly 15% this year and clinched 30 record-high closes. The new backdrop of cooling inflation coupled with rate cuts on the horizon is prompting investors to up their bullish wagers. Evercore ISI raised its price target to 6,000 for the S&P 500, a reversal from its previous, more gloomy 4,750 target. Much of the S&P 500 index’s returns are tied to the mega-cap tech Magnificent Seven stocks, leaving the market dependent on just a handful of names to continue its monster run.

Ongoing earnings strength for the "Magnificent Seven" will continue to lead the S & P 500 higher, according to Citi. Scott Chronert, the bank's head of U.S. equity strategy, increased his year-end S & P 500 target to 5,600 from 5,100. Goldman Sachs also increased its price target on the S & P 500 to 5,600 on Friday, while Evercore ISI raised its forecast to 6,000 — the highest on the Street. The S & P 500 is up more than 14% in 2024. Rather, a S & P 500 index target needs to account for related influences."

Immigrants, jobs and inflationImmigration has helped the U.S. job market sustain a strong run in recent months without reigniting inflation, economists and analysts say. The conglomerate sold 1.3 million shares for $39.8 million, reducing its holding to 6.9%. Evercore strategist and managing director Julian Emanuel increased his year-end S&P 500 price target to a new high on Wall Street at 6,000 in a note on Sunday. Emanuel forecasts S&P 500 EPS growth of 8% and 5% in 2024 and 2025, respectively. The S&P 500 trading at 6,000 would imply a 25x trailing 12-month price-to-earnings multiple based on Emanuel's EPS estimate of $238 per share. AdvertisementIf the high valuation multiples persist, the S&P 500 could rise 31% to 7,000 by the end of 2025.

The firm raised its year-end target for the S & P 500 to 6,000 from 4,750. The new price target also now marks the highest on Wall Street, the CNBC Market Strategist Survey shows. Emanuel also pointed to the artificial intelligence-driven rally as another factor that could blow the S & P past its old target. Enthusiasm over AI has pushed the S & P 500 to record levels this year, with the S & P 500 blowing by Emanuel's previous year-end target. Emanuel added that the 7,000 level for the S & P 500 is achievable by the end of 2025.
