„Republica Moldova a încălcat obligațiile sale de a o proteja de la discriminare”. Este constatarea Comitetului ONU pentru Eliminarea Discriminării împotriva Femeilor, care a emis o decizie pe cazul unei victime a violenței în familie. Abuzul s-a manifestat fizic, verbal și emoțional și, în cele din urmă, a dus la moartea violentă a V.C. Aceasta este deja a doua decizie a Comitetului împotriva Republicii Moldova. Комитет ООН по ликвидации дискриминации в отношении женщин устанавливает нарушение Республикой Молдова Конвенции ООН о ликвидации всех форм дискриминации в отношении женщин. Решение было принято после того, как Ассоциация „Promo-LEX” в партнёрстве с „Equal Rights Trust” подала заявление от имени женщины, муж которой подверг её домашнему насилию во время брака. Комитет установил, что Республика Молдова нарушила свои позитивные обязательства по защите этой женщины от дискриминации”, - говорится в пресс-релизе Ассоциации „Promo-LEX”. Комитет констатировал, что Ассоциация „Promo-LEX” имела право подать жалобу от имени женщины после её смерти и, следовательно, без её непосредственного согласия, подчеркнув, что этот вывод отвечает интересам правосудия и предотвращения безнаказанности. Первое решение было вынесено в 2016 году по другому случаю, тоже касающемуся домашнего насилия.
