Clark recorded 337 assists in the regular season, which was not only a rookie record, but also the WNBA record for assists in a season. ☆ Russia proposes record defense spending as it pursues victory in Ukraine

The government’s draft budget released Monday proposes spending just under 13.5 trillion rubles (over $145 billion) on national defense. The Ukraine war is Europe’s biggest conflict since World War II and has drained the resources of both sides, with Ukraine getting billions of dollars in help from its Western allies. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also looking at how to sustain his war effort as military spending has placed a huge strain on the Russian economy. Ukraine, too, has developed a new generation of drones for the battlefield and for long-range strikes deep inside Russia. More than 100 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russia on Sunday, Russian officials said.

Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson was ruled out for the rest of Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh after appearing to injure his hip in the first quarter. After being hit near the right hip on a 14-yard scramble downfield with 5:42 to play in the first quarter, Richardson, the second-year starter, immediately was seen reaching for the area. But on his first play back, Richardson struggled to run to his left on first-and-goal just 6 yards from the end zone and immediately left the game again, with Joe Flacco entering as the Colts’ replacement. The team initially ruled Richardson as questionable to return, but he was soon downgraded to out for the rest of the game. Shortly after he returned, he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in October 2023 that required surgery.
