[1/5] Dec 4, 2022; Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) looks to throw during the first quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium. Former MVP Patrick Mahomes, 27, expects to shake off an injury doubt to lead his Chiefs to revenge over the Bengals in their fifth straight conference championship appearance. Last year's overtime heartbreaker saw Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow off to the Super Bowl in only his second season. In the NFC Championship, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is looking to put the cherry on top of his improbable Cinderella story on the road in Philadelphia. The conditions get tougher, it gets a little steeper, gets a little harder to breathe.
The 2023 AFC Championship game will air January 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET on January 29, with the winner moving on to Super Bowl LVII in Arizona next month. Jan 23 (Reuters) - Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is receiving treatment for a high ankle sprain, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said on Monday, with the red-hot Cincinnati Bengals waiting for them in the AFC Championship. Mahomes fell awkwardly after being tackled late in the first quarter of the Chiefs' 27-20 divisional round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. A week later he completed 29 of 38 attempts to beat the Buffalo Bills 38-24 in the AFC Championship, helping the Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. "I'm just going to see how he's doing when we get to that Wednesday practice," he told reporters. The Chiefs face a significant hurdle to reach their third Super Bowl in four years, with the Bengals coming out on top in their last three meetings.
Mandatory Credit: Kareem Elgazzar-USA TODAY SportsJan 22 (Reuters) - Quarterback Joe Burrow overcame driving snow and a hostile road environment, leading the Cincinnati Bengals past the favored Buffalo Bills 27-10 and reaching the AFC Championship game for the second straight year. "Complete game from everybody - offense, defense and special teams," said Burrow, who threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals will return next Sunday to Kansas City for a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game against the Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, which the Bengals won 27-24 in an overtime thriller. Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon praised his quarterback for living up to his nickname of Joe Cool in Sunday's pressure-packed game. "Joe Burrow was unbelievable," Mixon said.

The one thing that could possibly torpedo the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes happened not long into their first playoff game this postseason. Patrick Mahomes got hurt. On a play in the first quarter of the team’s divisional round game against the Jaguars, Mahomes let go of a pass and then was brought to the ground by a pair of Jacksonville defenders. One of them landed on Mahomes’s leg, visibly bending it around the ankle.
Jan 22 (Reuters) - Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin received a standing ovation from fans at the Bills-Bengals game on Sunday when video screens showed him in attendance at the contest less than three weeks after he suffered an on-field cardiac arrest. Prior to kickoff, the Bills tweeted a video of the 24-year-old arriving at stadium for the game with his mother, father and younger brother. Hamlin has made a remarkable recovery since he collapsed moments after making a tackle at a game between the Bengals and Bills in Cincinnati on Jan. 2. He had to have his heartbeat restored on the field as stunned players from both teams cried, prayed and hugged. On Friday he seemed to end speculation over Maher's future - for now, at least - telling reporters, "Brett has the ball." "The goal is to get back into whatever routine he's had in the past that has made him so successful," said Beilock. So they're really in the zone, if you will," said Perea. "The sad thing about all this, is that when you have an outing like that, people will doubt you," said Perea. ZURICH, Jan 20 (Reuters) - ABB (ABBN.S) has sold its power conversion business to AcBel Polytech Inc (6282.TW) for $505 million, the Swiss engineering and technology company said on Friday. ABB said it expects to make a small non-operational book gain from the sale of the United-States-based Power Conversion business, which provides products for telecoms, data centres and general industry. Chief Executive Bjorn Rosengren said he was "delighted" with the deal which completed divisional portfolio divestments announced by ABB at the end of 2020. Power Conversion was acquired by ABB as part of the GE Industrial Solutions acquisition in 2018 and was not core to ABB, the company said. It generated revenues of approximately $440 million and income from operations of approximately $50 million in 2022.
A creative play from Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson set up the winning kick. Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker missed a 40-yard field goal to aid the comeback effort and the Jaguars took full advantage. After the fourth of those touchdowns, Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after slamming his helmet to the turf while arguing for a penalty on Jaguars tackle Jawaan Taylor. That allowed the Jaguars to go for two and be in position to win the game with a field goal. While the Jaguars will be moving on to play another game, the Chargers will be left to pick up the pieces of a massive collapse.

NEW YORK/ LONDON, Nov 3 (Reuters Breakingviews) - First Boston is an old Wall Street name that’s re-emerging from Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) with some new features. Credit Suisse Chief Executive Ulrich Körner is reshaping the $11 billion group to put some bad years and big losses firmly in the past. Credit Suisse is setting up joint ventures between CS First Boston and the parent’s trading and wealth management businesses, according to a person familiar with the matter. An added complication is that CS First Boston bankers could be getting paid in their own division’s stock, rather than Credit Suisse shares. Michael Klein will step down from the Credit Suisse board of directors to help launch CS First Boston, the bank said.
CNN —For just the second time in World Series history, a no-hitter has been thrown as four Houston Astros pitchers completed the feat against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday night to win 5-0 and secure their place in baseball lore. Cristian Javier started Game 4 in the series for the Astros, tossing six innings of no-hit ball, striking out nine and walking two. The only previous no-hitter in 118 years of World Series history is Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series. The Astros now hold the distinction of throwing the first combined no-hitter in postseason history, according to Major League Baseball. The only other no-hitter in postseason history was tossed by Roy Halladay for the Phillies in the 2010 National League Divisional Series.
Apple has frozen hiring for roles across corporate divisions at the tech giant, three sources tell Insider. The company has said it will be "deliberate" with recruiting but has not acknowledged halting hires in some departments. Since the summer, Apple has touted its "deliberate" decisions about investment and hiring, including on its most recent quarterly earnings call last week. But three sources with close knowledge of conversations at the company told Insider it has paused almost all hiring. The second source, who has knowledge of multiple high-level conversations inside Apple, agreed that it's experiencing a hiring freeze.
CNN —Game 3 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies, which had been scheduled for Monday night, has been postponed because of rain in Philadelphia. Because of Monday’s postponement, the rest of the World Series has been pushed back by a day. The best-of-seven series is level at a game apiece after the Astros bounced back to win 5-2 to even up the series in Game 2 on Saturday. The Astros, in their fourth World Series in six years, won 106 games in the regular season. The Phillies are vying for their third World Series title, with the franchise’s last coming back in 2008.
Oct 27 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse's (CSGN.S) latest shake-up has led to the promotion of some senior executives to more powerful roles while others are leaving. IN:MICHAEL KLEINA former Citigroup Inc (C.N) dealmaker, Klein has been named adviser to Credit Suisse CEO Ulrich Körner. He was hired by former Credit Suisse boss Tidjane Thiam in 2017 to run equity derivatives globally. A Spanish national, Lopez Lorenzo joined Credit Suisse in 2015 from JPMorgan (JPM.N) where he was a managing director in New York. The move to strengthen industrial leadership comes after delays and cost overruns blighted a series of long-term projects for which Boeing is locked in to a fixed price. Chief Financial Officer Brian West said last month fixed-price defense contracts were being "knocked around" by supply chain problems, inflation and labor shortages. In 2006, incoming BCA chief Scott Carson appointed Jim Jamieson chief operating officer of the planemaking unit - a wide brief giving him effective oversight of jet manufacturing and development until his retirement about 18 months later. Those changes came just as Boeing was trying to juggle changes in manufacturing with the development of the Boeing 787, while still bearing the wounds of a 1997 production crisis. Airbus (AIR.PA) has long had a chief operating officer at its main planemaking arm, though in practice it is more than a divisional role as the defense and helicopter units slot in underneath.

Retailers and distributors are looking for their newest warehouses to do more than store goods these days. The average wage for warehouse workers rose from $17.39 an hour in May 2019 to $18.38 in May 2021, according to the most recent BLS data available. Amazon.com Inc., which has added tens of thousands of warehouse jobs in recent years as it has expanded its logistics network, recently said it would raise average starting pay for warehouse workers to $19 an hour. September has been off to a good start, Mr. Janki said at a conference last week. Consumer demand remains strong and corporate travel—an important income generator for Delta before the pandemic—is recovering, Mr. Janki said. “We are keenly focused on continuing to strengthen the balance sheet and drive debt down,” Mr. Janki said. Adjusted net debt stood at $19.6 billion at the end of the second quarter, Delta said. Mr. Janki wants his 600-people strong finance team to rely more on data and improve its systems, including streamlining information in the cloud.
Johnson & Johnson has said it would provide a fair amount of money to the subsidiary to pay claims. Johnson & Johnson, valued at more than $450 billion, had about $31 billion in cash and marketable securities on hand at the end of the third quarter, securities filings show. One would absorb all the talc liability; the other would carry on the business free from the threat of billion-dollar judgments. Levesque replied that the “technical aspect” of the subsidiary bankruptcy wasn’t likely to cause concern about J&J’s creditworthiness. Is that what you're saying?” asked Jeffrey Jonas, a Brown Rudnick lawyer representing a creditors committee comprising talc plaintiffs.
