MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin state Senate is poised to approve a plan to spend more than half a billion dollars of public funds to help the Milwaukee Brewers repair their stadium over the next three decades. The Senate is expected to vote on the proposal during a floor session set to begin Tuesday morning. As of last week, Republican Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu was still trying to lock down enough votes to push the package. Brewer officials initially said the team might leave Milwaukee if they didn't get public dollars to help with the repairs. The Assembly last month approved a plan that calls for the state to contribute $411.5 million and the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County to contribute a combined $135 million.

New York CNN —Former President Donald Trump’s social media venture Truth Social is burning cash and piling up losses so rapidly that accountants warn it might not survive unless it soon completes a long-delayed merger, according to corporate filings. Trump Media and Digital World said the filing of the financial documents on Monday mark a key step forward towards finalizing their merger. That merger is key for the survival of Trump Media as it would unlock hundreds of millions of dollars in funding. The SEC filings indicate Trump Media lost $59.1 million in 2021 before posting a net profit of $50.5 million in 2022. Still, Digital World, the blank-check firm seeking to merge with Trump Media, is bullish on the venture.

Truth Social is the alternative social media platform backed by former President Donald Trump, who posts on it several times a day. If the merger does not happen, the DWAC filing warned, TMTG might be unable to "fully develop" Truth Social. Trump returned to X in August, though he has said Truth Social is still his primary social media platform. Trump's presence on Truth Social started as a boon for the company but has now become a crutch. In its first fiscal year ending Dec. 2022, TMTG, Truth Social's parent company, lost over $50 million on $1.4 million in sales. Given that origin story, Truth Social has branded itself as a safe haven from "Big Tech censorship," a vision that must be realized for Truth Social to maintain any sort of competitive advantage, according to the filing. In the best game of his young NBA career so far, Victor Wembanyama dropped 38 points, to go along with 10 rebounds and two blocks, powering the San Antonio Spurs to a 132-121 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Tony Evers on Tuesday sued the Republican-controlled Legislature, arguing that it is obstructing basic government functions, including signing off on pay raises for university employees that were previously approved. Republican legislative leaders, Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, did not immediately return emails seeking comment. In addition to not approving the pay raises for about 35,000 University of Wisconsin employees, Evers argues that the Legislature is blocking state conservation programs, updates to the state's commercial building standards and ethics standards for licensed professionals. But pay raises also must then be approved by a committee of legislative leaders. Evers and the GOP-controlled Legislature have had a contentious relationship from the moment Evers was elected in November 2018.

While the issue became less salient as the campaign went on, Pence was heckled and booed at times.
