Reuters —Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday ordered a crackdown on sex in government offices after private videos leaked on social media appeared to show a senior finance ministry official having sex with several women in various places, including his office. The government said it was taking action because the videos had denigrated the tiny Central African country’s image. Equatorial Guinea has been ruled by the same president for decades and the scandal has been shaking the government since the videos first emerged last week. The women featured in the videos appeared to include wives of other powerful government figures and other family members, local media said. President Teodoro Obiang has ruled Equatorial Guinea, a nation of some 1.7 million people on the west coast of Central Africa for 45 years and is the world’s longest-serving president.

A disturbance in the Caribbean strengthened into Tropical Storm Rafael on Monday afternoon. Rafael is the 17th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, and will be the 11th hurricane if it strengthens further, as expected. The storm system is expected to approach the United States later in the week, the hurricane center said, and a tropical storm watch was issued Monday afternoon for the lower and middle Florida Keys and for the Dry Tortugas. A hurricane warning has been issued for the Cayman Islands, and a tropical storm warning is in effect for Jamaica. The government of Cuba issued a hurricane watch for a handful of provinces, and a tropical storm watch for other areas.

The Air's Force 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, using Super Hercules fixed-wing aircraft, got a close look Sunday, the hurricane center said in an afternoon forecast discussion. Still, the upward movement of warm air and precipitation wasn't intense enough to call the disturbance a tropical depression, the hurricane center said. At 39 mph it becomes a tropical storm, which could happen early Tuesday, according to hurricane center forecasts. Storm threatsIn the meantime, the hurricane center said, hurricane conditions are possible within 48 hours on the Cayman Islands.

CNN —At least 25 people, including several children, died after their boat was “deliberately capsized by traffickers” near the Comoros Islands, the local office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Monday. “IOM Comoros is saddened to hear about the deaths of at least 25 people after their boat was deliberately capsized by traffickers off Comoros Islands, between Anjouan and Mayotte on Friday night,” the UN body said in a press release. The boat was carrying around 30 people from different countries including seven women and four children, IOM said citing five survivors who were rescued by fishermen Saturday morning. “Thousands of people have died on this migration route in an attempt to reach the disputed island of Mayotte, (an) island of the archipelago of Comoros and a French département since 2011,” said IOM. The agency emphasized “the importance of establishing safe and legal pathways for migration” to prevent such tragedies.

College student Rebecca Bergmaier worked at the Grand Canyon while managing a remote internship. Bergmaier said she'd recommend working in a national park for the summer to other college students. I was looking for something in my dream park, Yellowstone National Park, which I hadn't been to yet. I would just set up my computer and do my internship work from there.
