Lawyers for The New York Times are poring through ChatGPT's source code and training material. It is there to be inspected by lawyers for The New York Times. OpenAI similarly used high-quality, well-researched, well-written, and fact-based New York Times articles to make ChatGPT so impressive, the Times argues.

The Yankees will host Games 1 and 2 of this ALCS and, if needed, Games 6 and 7. Yankees veterans show upWhen the Yankees needed them most, their veterans finally showed up en masse. CNN —Covid-19 could be a powerful risk factor for heart attacks and strokes for as long as three years after an infection, a large new study suggests. What’s more, for people who needed to be hospitalized, Covid appeared to be as potent a risk factor for future heart attacks and strokes as diabetes or peripheral artery disease, or PAD. A finding unique to Covid-19The elevated heart risks from infection did not appear to diminish over time, the study found. People who were hospitalized for Covid but who were also taking low-dose aspirin had no increase in the likelihood of a subsequent heart attack or stroke. “If you’ve had Covid, we have to be especially attentive to making sure that we’re doing everything possible to lower your cardiovascular risk,” Hazen said.

In other words, I may find spicy food overwhelming simply because I expect it to be. “Some of it could be expectations, but some could also be how you’re biologically wired to experience food,” Albers said. Remember expectations can significantly influence your experience.”Listen to your body: As you eat spicy food, check in with your body’s responses. “There’s no ‘right’ level of spiciness — it’s about what feels good to you.”Pair spicy foods thoughtfully: Consider balancing spicy flavors with cooling elements, such as a piece of cheese or bread. “Spicy foods can increase your metabolism, your heart rate, cause vomiting and gastric distress, so there is definitely a physiological response that’s going on,” Albers said.

CLEVELAND — Some Democrats working to re-elect Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio this fall are attempting to raise fears about his opponent’s Colombian family and heritage, drawing charges of racism from Republicans. “Our tax dollars, a Moreno family windfall. Bernie Moreno only cares about himself.”The rhetoric has become a late-emerging tension point in a race that could determine partisan control of the Senate. Ohio and Montana, two states where former President Donald Trump twice won by large margins, are the top two GOP targets. BOSTON — Luis Tiant, the charismatic Cuban with a horseshoe mustache and mesmerizing windup who pitched the Red Sox to the brink of a World Series championship and himself to the doorstep of the Hall of Fame, has died. Major League Baseball announced his death in a post on X on Tuesday, and the Red Sox confirmed that he died at his home in Maine. He had 187 complete games and 47 shutouts in a 19-year career spent mostly with Cleveland and Boston. His death comes one week after that of all-time baseball hits leader Pete Rose, whose Cincinnati Reds faced Tiant’s Red Sox in the 1975 World Series — still considered one of the greatest in baseball history. After his retirement, Tiant was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame but never made the national shrine in Cooperstown, New York, receiving a high of 30.9% of the votes in 1988, his first year on the ballot.

The announcement highlights an issue — safe drinking water — that Kamala Harris has prioritized as vice president and during her presidential campaign. Biden and Harris believe it’s “a moral imperative” to ensure that everyone has access to clean drinking water, EPA Administrator Michael Regan told reporters Monday. “We know that over 9 million legacy lead pipes continue to deliver water to homes across our country. Lead pipes can corrode and contaminate drinking water; removing them sharply reduces the chance of a crisis. The infrastructure law approved in 2021 provided $15 billion to help cities replace their lead pipes, but the total cost will be several times higher.

By contrast, the modern day Democrats’ historic success at winning the popular vote hasn’t translated into nearly as much governing power for them. Over this record run of popular vote success, Democrats have already twice lost the Electoral College – and thus the White House – while winning more votes. Amazingly, Republicans won unified control of government in two elections when Democrats won a plurality of the national presidential vote: 2000 and 2016. The Democrats’ popular vote winning stretch began in 1992 with Clinton’s victory over George H.W. The highest share of the popular vote Democrats have won over this period is the 52.9% that Obama garnered in 2008.

CNN —The Kansas City Chiefs maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. Both players had been signed mid-season to cover for the growing injury list Kansas City is dealing with. But two more Butker field goals rebuilt Kansas City’s lead before another Saints TD once again made it a three-point game. Worthy was able to celebrate the moment in a special way, giving the touchdown ball to his mother in the stands to celebrate her birthday before exchanging a hug. A final Butker field goal capped off the victory as the Chiefs continued their excellent opening to the season.

Luis Tiant, a Cuban-born right-hander who was one of baseball’s most entertaining and charismatic pitchers, and whose personal story was among the game’s most poignant, died on Tuesday. His death was announced by the Boston Red Sox, for whom he pitched in the 1970s. The team did not say where he died or cite the cause. El Tiante, as he was known on the sports pages — or Loo-ee! as stadiums full of fans would often chant while he was on the mound — won 229 games over 19 big-league seasons, playing for teams in six cities, notably Cleveland and Boston, where he led the Red Sox to a World Series and became one of the most beloved players in the team’s storied history.

The Cleveland Browns fell to 1-4 with a loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday after yet another dispiriting performance by quarterback Deshaun Watson. After five games, Watson has thrown for only five touchdowns while tossing three interceptions. It has been a downward trend for Watson ever since he began playing for the Browns toward the end of the 2022 season. Even Watson’s former backup Flacco — who threw more touchdown passes than Watson in fewer games with the Browns last year — is playing better. After Sunday’s loss, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski stood by Watson.

Nguyen: With Aaron Rodgers’ age and their defense, the Jets have a small window to make some noise. In theory, Adams would also add some much-needed explosiveness to a Jets offense that entered this week ranked 29th in the NFL in total yards and 27th in points. The Bills’ defense also suffered losses in free agency, and holes went unfilled even though Buffalo’s top competitors in the AFC include elite offenses in Kansas City, Baltimore and Cincinnati. Watson isn’t just not playing well, he’s playing like one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. Maybe improved offensive production would help ease pressure on the Browns’ defense.

The success of so many 2020 election deniers in Republican primaries this year demonstrates that Trump’s ongoing campaign of election lies continues to have a strong hold on his party. Even four years later, candidates’ views on the 2020 election are relevant in important practical ways. Week 5 of the NFL season is here and we have a full slate of intriguing storylines to follow, led by a pair of players facing former teams. While Rodgers has the accolades, Minnesota's Sam Darnold has been the better quarterback so far this season. Cardinals (1-3) at 49ers (2-2)The 49ers’ offense has been banged up, but it rebounded last week in a win over New England. An NFL All-Pro four consecutive years while in Buffalo, Diggs is averaging a career-low 9.3 yards per catch in Houston. That’s not a good sign for a defense that has allowed 26.0 points per game, the fifth-highest average.
