Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion have released diss tracks about each other. The latest celebrity feud is between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, and hip-hop experts are already weighing in on who won — so far. It all started on Friday when Megan dissed Nicki in her new single, "Hiss," prompting Nicki to reply with her own track. Although Megan didn't name anyone while taking a bevy of pointed jabs in the lyrics, many fans believed one line targeted Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty. "I don't think Megan thee Stallion is in the same breath as Nicki Minaj," Budden said.

All three major averages posted gains for the third consecutive week, lifted by solid quarterly earnings and positive economic data. Earnings season ramps up next week, with five of the Super Six mega-cap stocks delivering results. Employment numbers are the most important economic data, with Friday's January nonfarm payrolls report carrying the most weight. The January ISM Manufacturing report on Thursday and December's factory orders report Friday are expected to show the sector still in contraction mode. But earnings and commentary this week from peer Sartorious made us encouraged about a return to growth in 2024.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The estate of George Carlin has filed a lawsuit against the media company behind a fake hourlong comedy special that purportedly uses artificial intelligence to recreate the late standup comic’s style and material. The named defendants are Dudesy and podcast hosts Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen. “None of the Defendants had permission to use Carlin’s likeness for the AI-generated ‘George Carlin Special,’ nor did they have a license to use any of the late comedian’s copyrighted materials,” the lawsuit says. The company, as it often does on similar projects, also released a podcast episode with Sasso and Kultgen introducing and commenting on the mock Carlin. “Yeah, that sounded exactly like George Carlin,” Sasso responds.

Opinion | Ron DeSantis Made Smiling Look Hard
  + stars: | 2024-01-22 | by ( Michelle Cottle | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
In a short video on Sunday, the Florida governor looked natty in a blue suit and red tie, every hair perfectly in place as he papered over his deeply imperfect campaign. He touted his own leadership and, perhaps with an eye toward running again in 2028, endorsed the Republican kingmaker, Donald Trump. But watching DeSantis’s now-famous awkward smile and listening to his unnatural cadence, it was hard not to think: Yeah. Mr. DeSantis is a successful governor of a major state and a smart guy with a picture-perfect family. On the presidential campaign trail, he was robotic and awkward, rude and arrogant, with the interpersonal skills of poorly designed A.I.

Friday's phone call came one day after Netanyahu said that he has told U.S. officials in plain terms that he will not support a Palestinian state as part of any post-war plan. But the regular cadence of calls between Biden and Netanyahu, who have had a hot-and-cold relationship for over three decades, has slowed considerably. And in late 2019, during a question and answer session with voters on the campaign trail, Biden called Netanyahu an “extreme right” leader. Netanyahu argues that a Palestinian state would become a launchpad for attacks on Israel. They hold out hope Israel could eventually come around to accepting a Palestinian state that comes with strong security guarantees for Israel.

The acquisition allows Synopsys to expand the industries it targets. Photo: David Paul Morris/Bloomberg NewsSynopsys agreed to acquire Ansys for $35 billion of cash and stock in a deal that would expand the company’s reach in simulation software for designers of microchips, cars and airplanes. Synopsys is one of two big players, along with Cadence, in the software that chip designers use to lay out circuitry and test it prior to manufacturing. As chip-making advances and designers start to stack silicon wafers on top of each other, physics simulations like those Ansys provides have become increasingly important.

It’s an adaptation of an adaptation, refashioning songs from the 2018 Broadway musical based on the movie. Walmart is starting to use AI to figure out how often you order groceries and order them for delivery. The service will soon be part of Walmart's InHome delivery, according to its presentation at CES. Walmart customers can set up deliveries of essentials at regular intervals, a service the big box chain started offering last year. The company started offering InHome delivery in 2019. Spark's gig delivery workers aren't allowed to enter customers' homes, a point of confusion for Walmart customers who think Spark contractors make InHome deliveries.

INVERNO, by Cynthia ZarinI once taught a seminar for graduate fiction writers called A Poet’s Prose. The reading list consisted of prose works written by distinguished contemporary poets. I was surprised to find that several students had registered for the course because they considered their own writing poetic. The elegance and incantatory power of Zarin’s prose, along with her virtuosity at observation, are undeniable, but, like many original works, “Inverno” resists easy description. Central to the novel is a love story, one that, like most love stories, is at once simple and terribly complicated.

Beyond weight loss One of 2023's most pivotal events in the space was Novo Nordisk's release of top line results from its Select trial in August . In 2023, the exuberance around weight loss drugs roiled markets in many unexpected ways. How Jewish People Built the American Theater
  + stars: | 2023-11-29 | by ( Jesse Green | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +46 min
Let Us Tell You A Story How Jewish people built the American theater as we know it. The theater, which for many Jews was a major way of becoming American in the first place, seems unable to acknowledge that the danger that American Jews face is not just historical, and not just onstage. (Both of Adler’s parents were Yiddish theater stars — her father, Jacob Adler, was a renowned Shylock in 1903.) Embedding their own observation and experience within Stanislavsky’s, along with the best of Yiddish theater and a generous dollop of Freud, they converted the American theater to Judaism. Sara Krulwich/The New York TimesThe Jewish contribution to the creation of the American theater was built on the acknowledgment of a larger humanity alive within each of us, available to some, with natural empathy and rigorous training.

Nov 29 (Reuters) - Synopsys (SNPS.O) on Wednesday forecast first-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations, as artificial intelligence (AI) adoption boosted demand for the company's chip designing software. Synopsys forecast current-quarter revenue between $1.63 billion and $1.66 billion, above analysts' average estimate of $1.60 billion. The rise in custom chip design efforts by firms like Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Alphabet (GOOGL.O) has also boosted demand. "You need a very specific silicon in order to power that (AI) training," Sassine Ghazi, the company's president and chief operating officer, said of the boom in AI chips in an interview. Ghazi told Reuters that increased use of Synopsys AI services helped boost the value of some of its contracts by 20% at renewal time.

The narrator, Juan Preciado, goes to his parents’ hometown after his mother dies, seeking his long-estranged father, Pedro Páramo. If where and when we are in “Pedro Páramo” is constantly shifting, then sound is the swift and sinuous vehicle that carries us through it. U.S. officials fear G42 could be a conduit by which advanced American technology is siphoned to Chinese companies or the government. CNN —In hindsight, Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut “A Star is Born” served as the commercial tune-up that paved the way for “Maestro,” as both films deal with the price of art as well as loving an artist. Bottom line This was a very strong quarter, with almost nothing to nitpick. This year's rapid Data Center sales growth we've seen has been driven largely by cloud providers and enterprises. Sales to China and other impacted regions have, in the past few quarters, accounted for 20% to 25% of Data Center sales. However, the team added that they "believe the decline will be more than offset by strong growth in other regions." Guidance Looking ahead to Nvidia's fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, we once again got far stronger guidance than Wall Street was modeling.
