Bitcoin is likely to reach at least one more all-time high by the end of this year, according to Standard Chartered. That's likely regardless of whether Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump wins the presidential election this November – a variable that others have viewed as a make-or-break game changer for the industry since Trump threw his public support behind the industry this summer. "BTC will end 2024 at fresh all-time highs under either election outcome – [circa] $125,000 level under Trump or c.$75,000 level under Harris," he said. The firm maintains its view that bitcoin will reach the $200,000 level by the end of 2025, regardless of this year's election outcome. That's one reason so many are hoping the election could trigger some movement in bitcoin.

Investors and Wall Street analysts may want to take a closer look at stocks that could be winners under a President Kamala Harris after Tuesday night's debate . National polls showed a tight race heading into the debate, but some now believe Harris could get a bump from her performance. "We expect a near-term bounce towards Vice President Harris following the first debate with former President Trump, but the longer-term impact remains unclear," Raymond James Washington analyst Ed Mills said in a note to clients late Tuesday night. Wolfe Research has a similar list of stocks in an anti-Trump trade basket, including health care stocks like Centene and HCA . But it was only when Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine , in 2022, that Ammosov began to plot the overthrow of his homeland. Instead, JPMorgan increased its overweight recommendations on other emerging markets. Even after the change, JPMorgan still holds 18 China stocks in its global emerging markets model portfolio. Ether, the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, is nearly 50% off its all-time high. The ETH/BTC ratio, a sentiment indicator reflecting the relative value of ether compared with bitcoin, is at its lowest level since April 2021. "Bitcoin has a very well established use case, which is a store-of-value currency," said Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant. Some investors had hoped ether could compete with bitcoin, whose rate of supply growth slows every four years after the halving. However, ether supply has been rising at a fast pace this year, and is on track to resume its pre-Merge levels in the next three months, according to CryptoQuant.

More than halfway through the third quarter, many of the biggest commodity ETFs in the United States are in sizable holes. Kathy Kriskey, senior commodities ETF strategist at Invesco, said that oil supply is actually tight at the moment. The commodities slump could be partially due to mechanical factors in the market, such as low trading volumes combined with large commodity trading advisors betting against the sector, Kriskey said. "The price of corn has taken almost three full years from those 2022 spike highs to get back down.
