My wife and I met in our late 30s, and we had our two children when we were older. Now that I'm an older father, I worry I'm losing time with my kids. I've come to realize I will be a senior citizen by the time my kids graduate from high school and enter college, so I'm not wasting any minute. I have enjoyed it so much that I work entirely from home now and spend almost every waking minute with Ellie and Jack.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A district attorney in Tennessee has dropped charges against country singer Chris Young stemming from an encounter with Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents who were doing compliance checks. After the check, Mr. Young began asking the agents questions, which they said they answered, and he began video recording them. The arrest affidavit said that Mr. Young and his friends had followed them and began talking to the people there. Then the agent pushed Mr. Young with two hands, and Mr. Young staggered backward and hit his back on a corner of the bar table, causing him to briefly fall, the video shows. Mr. Young then got up, raised both of his hands in the air and walked backward from the agents. Another agent tried speaking to Mr. Young, who did not comply with the orders, the affidavit said.

The problem with this approach is that most Republican voters do not want an alternative to Trump; they overwhelmingly back him. At least that’s what the Nikki Haley campaign said after finishing second to former President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire primaries on Tuesday. Democratic nominee Bill Clinton and third-party candidate Ross Perot exploited that division in the Republican Party against Bush in the fall. The Republican Party is united behind Trump, and with optimal conditions for an opponent like Haley, Trump was still unstoppable. “Democrats deserve options, and it’s not clear at all that President Biden can beat Donald Trump.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked JetBlue Airways’ proposed $3.8 billion acquisition of Spirit Airlines, a victory for the Department of Justice, which argued that the deal would harm travelers. The proposed merger would have created the nation’s fifth-largest airline. The Justice Department had argued that smaller, low-cost airlines like Spirit help reduce fares and that allowing the company to be acquired by JetBlue, which tends to charge higher prices than Spirit, would have hurt consumers. The four largest U.S. airlines — American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines — control about two-thirds of the market. The merger would have given JetBlue a market share of 10 percent, still shy of United, the fourth-largest U.S. airline, which has 16 percent.

A Justice Department lawyer argued that the deal would push fares higher by 30% and leave fewer options for travelers on a budget. Duffy, the Justice Department lawyer, tried to close the door on more divestitures. If Spirit is acquired by JetBlue, Frontier would become the biggest discount carrier in the U.S., followed by Allegiant Air and new entrants Breeze and Avelo. The Justice Department has not indicated whether it will challenge that deal. Spirit agreed to merge with Frontier Airlines, which shares its ultra-low-cost business model, but JetBlue beat Frontier in a bidding war.

Young voters could be pivotal in an election year where the race is expected to be very close between presumptive nominees Biden and Republican front-runner Donald Trump. While young voters tend to favor Democrats, even a small drop in turnout among those voters – or a shift toward Republicans – could make a dispositive difference in battleground states. Biden has a dramatic disadvantage, compared with Trump, on the economy, even as young voters report overwhelmingly that their own financial situations are solid. That's on track with Biden's performance among young voters in 2020, when exit polls showed Biden took 60% of the youth vote, compared to 36% of young voters who voted for Trump. The data on young voters reflects a trend other polling has shown throughout the campaign season: Americans are unhappy with the ways things are going and don't want a Biden-Trump rematch.

Congress already has allocated $111 billion to assist Ukraine, including $67 billion in military procurement funding, $27 billion for economic and civil assistance and $10 billion for humanitarian aid. Young wrote that all of it, other than about 3% of the military funding, had been depleted by mid-November. The Biden administration has said it has slowed the pace of some military assistance to Kyiv in recent weeks to try to stretch supplies until Congress approves more funding. “We are out of money to support Ukraine in this fight,” Young wrote. “They were clear that Ukraine needs the aid soon — and so does our military need the aid soon,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told The Associated Press in an interview.

Indeed, studies show that drinking alcohol is less in vogue with younger millennials and Gen Z. Mounting concern around weight loss drugs GLP-1 drugs, which mimic the action of the glucagon-like peptide-1 hormone and stimulate insulin secretion after a meal, lower blood sugar and send feeling of fullness to the brain. What's more, GLP-1 drugs are an overwhelmingly American topic, with most Europeans unaware of them or unwilling to pay high prices. In total, GLP-1 users are only a very small slice of total alcohol consumers, said Spiros Malandrakis, lead alcohol industry researcher at Euromonitor International. Wiedmann: Raw cookie dough represents a risk for salmonella, even if you have eaten raw cookie dough in the past without getting sick. Best ways to avoid getting infected with salmonellaTo limit your chances of salmonella infection, cook raw meat and poultry properly. If a spatula touches raw meat on a grill for example, that spatula can also be a source of salmonella.

CNN —For nearly a decade, US Coast Guard leaders have concealed a critical report that exposed racism, hazing, discrimination and sexual assault across the agency. That investigation found that serious misconduct had been ignored and, at times, covered up by high-ranking officials, allowing alleged offenders to rise within the ranks of the Coast Guard and other military branches. The Coast Guard said this week it had enacted or partially enacted 60 of 129 recommendations, including additional training and additional support services for victims. The Coast Guard did not comment on concerns that problems remain at the agency, or the statistics or examples cited by CNN. Yet to this day, none of the accused service members from her case have faced any consequences.
