CNN —Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has said that he has no concerns with kicker Harrison Butker forming a political action committee (PAC) based on Christian values. Butker announced the formation of UPRIGHT PAC during the Chiefs’ bye week last weekend, which, according to its website, intends to “reclaim the traditional values that have made this country great” and “mobilize Christians across this country to make sure we protect these values” at the upcoming election. The UPRIGHT PAC website, which Butker promoted on social media, features prominent photos of the 29-year-old and an appeal for donations. Hunt speaks to media at a Chiefs training camp earlier this year. He has featured in all five of the Chiefs’ games this season, making 12 of his 14 field goal attempts in the team’s unbeaten start.

A Texas inmate is set to die in what would be the nation’s first execution involving “shaken baby syndrome.” One Direction member Liam Payne dies at the age of 31. Prosecutors argued that Nikki must have been shaken to death. Since Roberson’s conviction in 2003, the science behind shaken baby syndrome’s diagnosis has come under intense scrutiny. Texas is preparing to put a man to death Thursday in what would be the nation’s first execution involving a case of “shaken baby syndrome,” a diagnosis that has been re-evaluated in more recent years, leading to the overturning of similar convictions. Prosecutors argued that Nikki must have been shaken to death because she had been diagnosed with “the triad” — a swollen and bleeding brain and retinal hemorrhaging — symptoms once believed to be indisputable evidence of shaken baby syndrome. In 2009, the American Academy of Pediatrics changed the name of shaken baby syndrome to the more broadly defined “abusive head trauma” to include injuries caused by mechanisms other than shaking alone. It is now medical consensus that other medical conditions, including infections, accidental trauma and pre-existing illnesses, can also cause the symptoms associated with shaken baby syndrome. Hundreds of possible shaken baby and abusive head trauma cases are reported to hospitals in the U.S. every year, according to a nonprofit advocacy group.

CNN —Detroit Lions star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field with a broken tibia in the team’s 47-9 blowout victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Early in the third quarter, Hutchinson injured himself after sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. As he went to wrap up the QB, his leg collided with a teammate’s leg and he immediately fell to the ground. The Lions would rule him out for the rest of the game with a lower leg injury. Lions running back David Montgomery called Hutchinson’s injury an “unfortunate loss” for the team.
