After a decade of unfulfilled promises about driverless vehicles, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hyped the company’s Cybercab concept on Thursday night, showing off a low, silver two-seater with no steering wheels or pedals. Musk offered no details about exactly where Tesla plans to produce the cars, but said consumers would be able to buy a Tesla Cybercab for below $30,000. He said the Cybercab and Robovan would employ inductive charging, meaning these autonomous vehicles could roll up to a station to recharge, with no plugging in required. Musk has spent years touting Tesla’s work in autonomous cars and promising that they would hit the market. In 2015, Musk told shareholders that Tesla cars would achieve “full autonomy” within three years.

Pittsburgh CNN —In the years that Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick led one of the world’s largest hedge funds, the firm bet millions of dollars against some of the state’s biggest and most iconic companies, financial filings show. For financial institutions, short positions can be lucrative. The fund shorted about four dozen companies from Pennsylvania during McCormick’s tenure, the records show. The fund did invest in stocks of some of the same Pennsylvania companies it shorted in other years, and overall, it reported spending more money buying stocks of Pennsylvania companies than shorting them in four of the five annual reports reviewed by CNN. She argued that the short positions Bridgewater took in Pennsylvania companies didn’t negatively impact employees because they represented a small fraction of each company’s overall value.

New York CNN —Google is so synonymous with its core product that its name is a verb that means “search.” Yet Google’s dominance of that market is shrinking. For the first time in decades, Google next year will not control a majority of the US search market, according to a forecast by advertising research firm eMarketer. Google will remain the biggest search player, maintaining a 48% share of American search advertising revenue. That ruling could result in the eventual breakup of the company’s search business.
