HONG KONG — China conducted large-scale military drills around Taiwan on Monday in what it said was a warning to “independence forces” on the Beijing-claimed island. The exercises had been expected after Beijing criticized a speech last week by Taiwan President Lai Ching-te. The questionnaires, known as client intake forms, give rare insight into the practices of Sage and other crisis pregnancy centers and how they use ambiguous language to describe their services. These practices are typical for crisis pregnancy centers across the country, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The tactics used at crisis pregnancy centers often create delays that leave women unable to access abortions, forcing them to continue their pregnancies. Most crisis pregnancy centers in the United States are affiliated with either Heartbeat International or Care Net, another anti-abortion network. Like Idaho, North Carolina provides state funding to crisis pregnancy centers.

Almost half of young women have at least a bachelor’s degree compared to 37% of young men. That compares to 2008, when Barack Obama won the votes of 66% of young men. One of the biggest financial pressure points for young men has been higher rents, which are up around 20% since 2020. Young men are more likely to be financially dependent on their parents compared to young women, with 74% of women describing themselves as mostly financially independent compared to 62% of young men, according to a Pew survey. I think Trump will do better with young men than among young women — the gap will be pretty significant in terms of voter support — but I don’t think Trump’s going to win an overwhelming majority.
