Younger Black men have received increased attention from the Harris campaign in recent days. Since January, Black Men Vote has been reaching out to its target audience in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where the group says it has registered more than 100,000 Black men to vote. Part of the zoo, built in 1860 and the oldest park in Hong Kong, has remained shut since October 14 when authorities reported the first batch of monkey deaths. Autopsies found a large amount of the melioidosis-inducing bacteria in the monkeys organs, which likely came from soil near the monkeys habitat, they said. (Applicants must first exhaust their state unemployment benefits.) Plus, disaster jobless benefits are available to many types of workers who don’t qualify for state unemployment insurance, such as gig workers, farmers and the self-employed. Still, it can be difficult for the newly jobless to secure either state or disaster unemployment benefits, particularly those whose homes and businesses have been heavily damaged or destroyed by storms. LONDON — King Charles III has expressed “deep love and affection” for Australia, a former part of the British Empire. Charles, 75, is Britain’s first reigning monarch to visit Australia in 13 years. The royal visit to Australia includes a Monday reception at Parliament House in Canberra, the capital, where the king will meet with Albanese. Cuba restored a trickle of power to its grid by mid-evening on Friday, officials said, hours after the island plunged into a countrywide blackout following the collapse of one of its major power plants. The Communist-run government closed schools and non-essential industry early on Friday and sent most state workers home in a last-ditch effort to keep the lights on after weeks of severe power shortages. But shortly before midday, the Antonio Guiteras power plant, the country’s largest and most efficient, went offline, prompting a total grid failure and suddenly leaving the entire island without power. For many Cubans, far removed from politics and accustomed to regular power outages, the nationwide blackout was nothing more than a normal Friday night. Russia and Mexico, which in the past have sent fuel to Cuba, have also greatly reduced shipments.
