REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 29 (Reuters) - KKR & Co (KKR.N) said on Wednesday it would buy a remaining 37% stake in Global Atlantic Financial Group that it does not already own for $2.7 billion in an all-cash deal. Private equity firm KKR has served as the manager of Global Atlantic's investment portfolio since 2021 and said in July 2020 that it would buy the annuities and life insurance provider. Global Atlantic's assets under management have grown to $158 billion from $72 billion in 2020, the companies said. Under the terms of the deal, KKR will pay Global Atlantic's minority shareholders an amount in cash equal to Global Atlantic's book value, with certain adjustments. Global Atlantic serves policyholders through its retirement and life insurance products.

A street sign for Wall Street is seen in the financial district in New York, U.S., November 8, 2021. But back in the markets, the Fed's policy pivot was all the rage as Treasury yields and dollar plunged anew. New York Fed chief John Williams said long-term inflation expectations were anchored, reassuring and "remarkably stable". Fed futures now have the first Fed rate cut of a quarter point fully priced for May and 110bps of rate cuts by year-end. Two-year Treasury yields plunged more than 15 basis points to four-month lows of 4.66% on Wednesday, with 10-year yields hitting their lowest since mid-September - a startling drop of more than 75bps in little over a month.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Nov 28 (Reuters) - U.S. in-store retail sales swelled last week by the most since December courtesy of aggressive discounts, but the year-over-year sales gain for the week covering the traditional Black Friday shopping season kick-off was the smallest in six years. Sales volumes increased for retailers during the Black Friday weekend where cost-aware consumers sought out larger discounts on expensive purchases, according to the report. Buyers are experiencing the cheapest holiday shopping season in years with toys, games, and hobby gear dipping in price for the first time since 2020. Reuters GraphicsDespite the sales gain, the increase is the smallest Black Friday-week gain since 2017's 4.8% year-over-year increase.

Don't listen to the bears: The incredible rally in stocks this month isn't over yet. The Dow and S & P 500 are on track to finish November — ending with Thursday's close — 7% and 8.4% higher, respectively. .SPX ALL mountain Long term look at the S & P 500 index We don't see any reason to curb our enthusiasm for stocks heading into the final month of 2023. With nearly all S & P 500 companies reporting results as of Nov. 17 (the last update from FactSet), 82% beat estimates on earnings while 62% beat on sales. The S & P 500 is bumping up against the highs of the year last reached in July, and the S & P Oscillator came into the week very overbought, a factor prompting us to book some profits and raise some cash.

Traders work on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., November 17, 2023. Benchmark Treasury yields fell back more than 10 basis points to 4.37% after a total of $109 billion of 2 and 5-year notes hit the Street on Monday without much disruption. Another weak U.S. housing readout, with sub-forecast new home sales last month, perhaps flattered the post-auction moves. That's likely a mixed blessing for Federal Reserve watchers - the continued buoyancy of consumption but with increasing price discrimination. Fed futures priced about 85bps of rate cuts through next year, starting in June, though many major banks expect even more.

Italy is no country for young chefs
  + stars: | 2023-11-25 | by ( Antonella Cinelli | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +9 min
Italy's food is famous the world over but many talented young chefs, hoping to make a career in their country, find themselves frustrated by low pay, lack of labour protection and scant prospects. The current outflow of Italian chefs due to difficult conditions at home is not a new phenomenon. A peep into the kitchens of even the most traditional Italian restaurants shows the local dishes are often prepared by low-paid immigrants. Partly for this reason, young chefs in Italy take home half the salary of their peers in Britain while working longer hours, Mazzei said. British people have become knowledgeable about Italian food, even learning about regional differences, he said, so he preferred to hire Italian chefs to satisfy an increasingly demanding clientele.
