I had never visited San Francisco and arrived without a place to live. Once I got my bearings in San Francisco, I would start chasing after the dream job for which I uprooted my life. The perks were as good as advertised, and Google met my expectations of a dream job. I had moved across the country for my dream job, so I wouldn't let a four-hour daily commute stop me now. It started by uprooting my life and commuting four hours a day for my dream job at Google, and it was totally worth it.

Both regular and enhanced seats will be available for selection at booking, starting in 2025 for flights in early 2026, Southwest said. Southwest AirlinesSouthwest has already announced an improved cabin with tablet holders, charging ports, upgraded overhead bins, and better WiFi. The cabin improvements come as Southwest plans to cut some short-haul flying in favor of more lucrative long-haul operations. Southwest left four airports altogether in August: Bellingham International Airport in Washington, Mexico's Cozumel International Airport, Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and Syracuse Hancock International Airport in New York. This means Icelandair passengers can connect in the US on Southwest flights, and vice versa.

New York CNN —Southwest Airlines’ substantial changes to its business and boarding process are coming – but not for a while. Southwest announced in July it would move away from the open seating model it has been known for throughout its 53-year history. It also announced it would offer premium seating for the first time. Part of the reason Southwest isn’t rolling out its assigned seating model sooner is that premium seating will take some time to reconfigure in the planes. It did not give details for when the premium seating with more legroom between seats would be available.

Week 3 of the NFL season was filled with impressive wins — some big-time comebacks, teams getting their first victory of the season and more. Here are the teams who came away with the biggest wins of the week. It was a baffling home performance for the Raiders one week after they upset the Ravens. Dalton’s performance not only saves the season for Carolina; it raises even more questions about how poor Young’s performance was in the first two weeks. Niners signal-caller Brock Purdy had an impressive stat line — 22 of 30 for 292 yards and three scores — but couldn’t put away the game late.

Baltimore City Fire Boat 2 floats past the Dali container vessel after it struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge that collapsed into the Patapsco River in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Federal agents have boarded a vessel managed by the same company as a cargo ship that caused the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse, the FBI has confirmed. In statements Saturday, spokespeople for the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland confirmed that authorities have boarded the Maersk Saltoro. The ship is managed by Synergy Marine Group. Darrell Wilson, a Grace Ocean spokesperson, confirmed that the FBI and Coast Guard boarded the Maersk Saltoro in the Port of Baltimore on Saturday morning.

Victims' families and a survivor of a Maryland bridge collapse that killed six people filed claims Friday for wrongful death and punitive damages against the owner and the operator of the massive cargo ship that crashed into the bridge earlier this year. The 100,000-plus-ton ship Dali slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the early hours of March 26 as a work crew was fixing potholes. Six construction workers died when the bridge went crumbling down into the Patapsco River. The nearly two dozen crew members on the ship survived, along with two pilots who were helping the vessel navigate the harbor. Days after the bridge collapse, the ship’s Singapore-based owner and manager petitioned a Maryland court to limit their monetary liability to $43.67 million, the value of the ship and its cargo, based on a pre-Civil War provision of maritime law.

A federal jury found that costumed players, dressed as Sesame characters near Philadelphia, did not discriminate against young Black patrons in widely shared video two years ago, court records showed on Thursday. The Philadelphia panel sided with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, voting unanimously that the defense's Sesame Place Philadelphia, a children’s theme park in Burks County, did not discriminate against girls shown in videos that went viral in July 2022. The verdict was reached on Wednesday and entered into court records on Thursday. “We are pleased with the jury’s verdict and thank them for their service and attention," SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment said in statement to NBC News on Friday. “We want every guest at our park to feel welcomed and safe when they visit us and to be able to see and feel aspects of themselves in the experiences we create,” SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment said.

Coronary calcium buildup causes atherosclerosis, a chronic and inflammatory cardiovascular disease marked by narrowed arterial walls and thus reduced blood flow. Environmental contaminants have been increasingly recognized as risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but the association of metals with coronary artery calcification has been “largely unknown,” the study authors said. They hypothesized that higher urinary levels of nonessential metals — cadmium, tungsten and uranium — and essential metals — cobalt, copper and zinc — that have previously been associated with cardiovascular disease may be linked with calcification. The participants didn’t already have clinical cardiovascular disease and were recruited from Baltimore; Chicago; Los Angeles; New York City; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Winston Salem, North Carolina. A view of the Dali cargo vessel which crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge causing it to collapse in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., March 26, 2024. The U.S. Justice Department on Wednesday sued the owner and manager of the cargo ship that caused the Baltimore bridge collapse, seeking to recover more than $100 million that the government spent to clear the underwater debris and reopen the city's port. The collapse snarled commercial shipping traffic through the Port of Baltimore for months before the channel was fully opened in June. The case was filed against Dali owner Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and manager Synergy Marine Group, both of Singapore. The companies filed a court petition days after the collapse seeking to limit their legal liability in what could become the most expensive marine casualty case in history.

The ship's owner and manager, the lawsuit says, sent an "ill-prepared crew on an abjectly unseaworthy vessel to navigate the United States' waterways." The lawsuit calls the actions by Grace Ocean Private Ltd, the owner of the vessel, and the ship's operator, Synergy Marine Group, "outrageous, grossly negligent, willful, wanton, and reckless." Darrell Wilson, a spokesperson for Grace Ocean Private Ltd and Synergy Marine Group, told Business Insider in a statement that the legal claim was "anticipated." AdvertisementThe lawsuit is also seeking punitive damages to deter any future "misconduct" by the owner and operator of the Dali.

The Miami Dolphins will place quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four weeks, the team announced Tuesday. Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during the Dolphins’ 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. This is at least the third concussion Tagovailoa has sustained during his time in the NFL. The concussion Tagovailoa suffered in Week 16 was not diagnosed until the day after the game. A member of the Miami Dolphins training staff attends to Tua Tagovailoa after he suffered a concussion on Sept. 12.

Are trampolines safe for kids? A doctor explains

The American Academy of Pediatrics issued a statement in 2012 to strongly recommend against the use of recreational trampolines in kids. Jumpers on the same apparatus increases injury risk, especially for the smallest individuals, according to the AAP. The report also found that injuries from full-size trampolines had a six times higher risk of requiring surgery compared with injuries from mini-size trampolines. Stay close to your child and instruct them not to try dangerous maneuvers like flips. If our kids do go to a home that has trampolines, we try to steer them away from the trampoline.
