CNN —A Civil Air Patrol plane crashed during a training exercise in northern Colorado on Saturday, killing two people and injuring another person, authorities said. The Cessna 182 aircraft crashed in Larimer County, Colorado, while participating in a search and rescue training exercise, according to a Civil Air Patrol news release. Civil Air Patrol said it will cooperate with the NTSB’s investigation to learn more about what contributed to the incident. Major General Laura Clellan, who oversees the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, said she was devastated by the loss Saturday. There are 36,767 water systems in 36 states with publicly available information on the CDC‘s website, a small slice of the estimated number of drinking water systems in the US. In Kentucky, 93.8% of these reported water systems are fluoridated, and at the bottom end, only 3.7% of water systems reported in Alaska are fluoridated. From the publicly available data on water system fluoride levels, two water systems, both located in South Carolina, reported fluoride concentration levels above WHO guidelines. A 2010 Nevada study found that living in a community with fluoridated drinking water was associated with lower incidences of decayed, missing or filled teeth.

Police in Las Vegas arrested 57 striking casino workers on Thursday at a protest outside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the Culinary Union said on X. Hundreds of casino workers at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas walked off their jobs last week over stalled talks to win a new five-year union pay contract. “Culinary Union members on strike outside @VirginHotelsLV while Culinary Union members are getting arrested in non-violent civil disobedience,” the union said in one of the posts. Separately, Las Vegas police said that the road next to the casino, which was earlier closed due to protests, had reopened after the arrests. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is owned by JC Hospitality, along with Juniper Capital Partners, Virgin Group and others, according to the hotel’s website.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, criticized proposed legislation in Australia that aims to ban social media for children under 16. The legislation, which was introduced in Parliament by Australia’s center-left government on Thursday, is among the world’s toughest on social media. Other countries have tried to impose limits on social media for children, including the United States which requires technology companies to obtain parental consent to collect data from children under 13. This is not the first time Musk has been publicly critical of the Australian government over tech regulation. At the time, Albanese called Musk an “arrogant billionaire who thinks he is above the law.”In September, Musk called the Australian government “fascists” over plans to crack down on misinformation online.

Senate Republicans offered mixed responses Thursday to President-elect Donald Trump's announcement that he will nominate Pete Hegseth, a Fox News personality accused of sexual assault, to lead the Defense Department following the release of a police report concerning sexual assault allegations against him.
