Student-loan borrowers are entering the new year with uncertainty on their payments and debt relief. Ongoing litigation with the SAVE repayment plan makes it difficult for some borrowers to plan financially. Biden also officially withdrew his broad debt relief plans, and any future relief under Trump is unlikely. However, he had periods of unemployment through 1998, during which he could not afford student-loan payments. It's unclear what's in store for millions of federal student-loan borrowers in the new year.

A recent analysis of our portfolio revealed we own more than a couple cheap stocks, including one of our newer additions in Bristol Myers Squibb . To calculate this, we divided the P/E by the three-year annual earnings growth rate estimate, according to the FactSet earnings consensus estimates. So, in order to generate a three-year compound annual growth rate, we assumed 7.3% year-over-year earnings growth for the S & P 500 in 2027. Sometimes cheap stocks are cheap for a reason that will limit its upside potential, which mean they are what's known as a "value trap." Not all cheap stocks are worth buying, and not all expensive ones are worth dumping.

As a company, Linde a largely positive year. A revival of economic growth would be a boon to both the company and the stock in 2025. Consider this: Linde shares are on track to underperform the S & P 500 on annual basis for the first time since 2015. It's not unreasonable for Linde shares to see some pullback, given Linde is a global presence and the economic outlook around the world is murky. Linde ended the third quarter with the largest sale of gas backlog in company history, providing a positive setup into 2025.

New York CNN —Three weeks after the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, companies and executives are closely monitoring threats from customers and shoring up their security vulnerabilities. A Texas man was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening Capital One executives over email, in which he expressed frustration over a disputed debt. Letters like these are commonplace and show the continued tension between corporate America and its customers. Republicans and Democrats have similarly negative opinions of large corporations – just 32% of Republicans and 26% of Democrats view their impact positively. There are always disgruntled and deranged emailers out there – with heightened concerns only for health insurance execs.”But in the wake of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder, companies have stepped up security measures.

Starface World president Kara Brothers has learned a counterintuitive trick to being a good boss: embrace your flaws. "A flaw of mine that's helped me lead more effectively is that I'm naturally a very direct person," Brothers tells CNBC Make It. Prior to Starface, Brothers spent eight years at Google and a brief stint at Lightning AI, a New York-based AI software development firm. Addressing issues directly — whether tackling conflicts or identifying areas for improvement — strengthens trust and reduces uncertainty within the organization, she adds. "Waiting to give feedback until a formal performance review or a more comfortable moment can cause lingering uncertainty," Brothers says.

But in its scramble to play catch-up, the company also released a pair of AI products that initially proved embarrassing. When addressing employees, Pichai often name-checked co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page to remind them of Google's scrappy roots. Those lies are at the heart of Smartmatic’s massive defamation suit against Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corporation. The Murdoch family has battled over succession in compete secrecy in a Reno court. In the Nevada case, Rupert has argued that Lachlan must succeed him in order to maintain his outlet’s right-wing political bent. Lawyers for Fox previously said in Smartmatic’s election defamation case that they oppose disseminating the records from the family trust fight. “That litigation is entirely irrelevant to this case,” Fox lawyer Winn Allen told a judge during a hearing last month.
