HIGH-OCTANE DRIFTER Nissan has redesigned its long-lived sports car model, now called the Nissan Z Sport or Z Performance (the numbers have been dropped).
Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine (400 hp/350 lb-ft), paired with an available six-speed manual transmission or nine-speed automatic.
AFTER DECADES of minimal investment verging on benign neglect, Nissan has finally redesigned and modernized its beloved Z sports coupe, fitting it with a properly horsey engine, a stronger driveline, stiffer chassis bits and a suite of must-have cabin conveniences and connectivity.
The Z Sport ($39,990) includes the all-star engine: a twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 3.0-liter V6.
To handle the 30% increase in torque over the previous engine, Nissan developed its own, homebrewed six-speed manual transmission with a high-performance clutch.
