Shares of Disney (DIS) are exploding higher – up 10% just after the market open Thursday. And it forecast profits from streaming will rise another $875 million in the new fiscal year, helping to lift results. Legacy media companies such as Disney that have gotten into streaming in the last five years have struggled to make the business profitable as they sought to catch up with Netflix, which had been the only profitable streaming service until recently. Disney needs to have improved results from streaming as its cable and broadcast network business continues to suffer from a combination of ad sales declines an cord cutting by consumers.

The Boston-area university’s denial followed a reported claim by one of its professors that the political science department would no longer facilitate internships at Moulton’s office. “We have reached out to Congressman Moulton’s office to clarify that we have not — and will not — limit internship opportunities with his office,” the university said in a statement. Moulton’s office also shared a transcript of a voicemail that it said was left by Art, the contents of which were first reported by The Boston Globe. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) has been getting a lot of attention, and rightly so. Things have recently accelerated in November, and Tuesday, the IGV Software ETF was one of just three ETFs we track to make new all-time highs. Within the IGV Software ETF, it also has the third biggest weighting, but it's behind both CRM and ORCL. More importantly, MSFT has been noticeably lagging the IGV ETF across various time frames. Reuters —Satellite TV provider DirecTV said on Tuesday it will abandon its planned acquisition of EchoStar’s satellite television business that includes Dish TV by Nov. 22 if bondholders don’t agree to a debt exchange. “A successful exchange was a condition for acquiring the Dish video business,” a DirecTV spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed statement. “Given the outcome of the EchoStar exchange, DirecTV will have no choice but to terminate the acquisition of Dish by midnight on Nov. 22.”EchoStar and Dish did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. As part of the two-step transaction, DirecTV was to pay $1 to buy the pay TV business called Dish DBS that includes Dish and Sling TV, while agreeing to assume about $9.75 billion of Dish’s debt. Dish and DirecTV launched an exchange offer at a discounted rate for the debt to help extend the maturities.
