It is hard to pinpoint how many Americans will tune in Tuesday night to watch the first and only scheduled debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald J. Trump. championship game routinely draws north of 110 million viewers, essentially the high-water mark of live televised events. But the “Seinfeld” finale? The record for a presidential debate is 84 million viewers, for the first meeting in 2016 between Hillary Clinton and Mr. Trump. Ratings-wise, the event has one factor in its favor: Mr. Trump, who has participated in three of the four most-watched general-election debates since 1976.

Guideline reports viewership of NFL broadcasts grew about 7% over the past season, whereas ad spend in NFL programming doubled that pace at 14%. Automotive ad spend increased 17% over the past two seasons and is expected to increase again this year, according to Leyes. Stellantis is expected to soon launch new ads for the NFL season, including around its Jeep brand, but a spokeswoman declined to provide additional details.

Two U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission members are urging the agency to probe safety practices of "foreign-owned" e-commerce platforms such as Shein and Temu, specifically the alleged sale of "deadly baby and toddler products." "Our interests are aligned with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in ensuring consumer protection and product safety, and we will cooperate fully with any investigation," the Temu spokesperson said. CPSC officials have asked for more funding to hire staffers to monitor emerging e-commerce platforms such as Temu and Shein over safety practices, according to The Information. Last April, a congressional commission released a report detailing issues with Shein, Temu and other "Chinese 'fast fashion' platforms.'" They alleged the sites have numerous product safety hazards, are connected to the use of forced labor and are exploiting trade loopholes, among other concerns.

NFL owners voted Tuesday to allow private equity firms to take a maximum 10% stake in teams. The league has never allowed private equity investment before. No other league takes a percentage of the so-called carry — the percentage of a fund's investment profits that managers typically receive as compensation — for all private equity firms. The NFL has informally told investment firms that if they make a return on an investment, it wants a portion of the profits to be returned to the league. It was unclear if the NFL's plans to take a piece of profits would deter future investment from private equity.
