A woman who anonymously sued Sean “Diddy” Combs this month for rape must reveal her name or her lawsuit will be tossed out, a judge has ruled. The complaint also said that Combs has had no contact with Doe in the years since, and noted that Combs is currently detained. The complaint was filed against Sean Combs, several of his businesses, including his label Bad Boy Records LLC, and Marriott International. He allegedly ordered Doe's friend to perform oral sex “or else he would have them both killed,” and raped Doe, according to the filing. Elon Musk and his political action committee are seeking to move the Philadelphia District Attorney's lawsuit targeting their $1 million swing state voter daily lottery to federal court from a state-level court. It is not clear what will happen at the hearing, given the notice of removal in federal court. As a rule, federal law bars a state court proceeding from taking place if a party in the case has filed a notice of removal to federal court and a copy of that notice is filed with the state court. The notice filed in federal court by lawyers for Musk and his America PAC argue that because that PAC is registered as a federal entity, it is not subject to state law. Minneapolis AP —A federal judge has dismissed a civil rights lawsuit against a white Minnesota state trooper who shot and killed a Black man during a traffic stop last year, ruling that the trooper’s actions did not violate the law. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel granted Trooper Ryan Londregan’s motion to dismiss the suit filed against him by the family of Ricky Cobb II. Brasel found that Londregan did not act unreasonably when he fired his weapon at Cobb as the man’s vehicle began moving forward with another state trooper partly inside. Cobb’s family filed its lawsuit in April accusing Londregan and Seide of excessive use of force and unreasonable search and seizure. CNN —The North Carolina Court of Appeals on Tuesday unanimously rejected a Republican bid to have election officials segregate overseas ballots cast by people who have never resided in the state for additional checks of the voters’ eligibility. The court’s decision is the latest blow to Republican efforts to attack overseas ballots in critical battleground states. Earlier Tuesday, a federal judge in Pennsylvania dismissed a challenge to the vetting procedures for overseas ballots in that state. And last week, a state judge in Michigan sided against the GOP in a case targeting ballots cast by people who had never lived there but were eligible to vote in the state because of familial ties to it. Though North Carolina’s policy of accepting ballots from overseas voters has been on the books for several years, starting in 2016, civilian voters abroad began outnumbering the military vote overseas – which itself is not as conservative as it once was.
